Don't you just love it when you get a surprise start to the day and it all goes so well! Charlie's rider and I got out wires crossed this morning - or rather I ballsed up. I thought I'd arranged for her to come to ride him at 8.30 but my last message confirming didn't send. I realised when I checked my messages at 8.32 as she's never late, not even one minute. I was in low rise jeans (bad even just for walking round in for me, the hipless wonder. I only wear them when all the others are in the wash) and the wrongest of the wrong bras but he was tacked up so I hopped on anyway and boy am I glad I did! He was just fabulous. His trot work was just beautiful and, one incorrect strike off notwithstanding, his canter transitions (our problem area) were the best he's ever done. Still not amazing, but better, a 5 rather than a 3! As I did a poo patrol of the school afterwards, Charlie followed and rested his head on my shoulder whenever I stopped. The sun was shining, the lambs were in the field and I'll have a smile on my face for the whole day now!

Pointless happy post .

Sounds lovely.
Im thankful i replaced the boys 100g with a 0g rainsheet this morning (he's fully clipped, i was going to leave naked today) because its chillier out than I read it was going to be. Guilt free conscience and warm horse, Win win :)

I moved the electric fence over a bit this morning for the boys....they have a teeny bit more spring grass to munch on.....they're very happy!
Monty's on box rest but goes into a small pen in the field overnight when the others are in (he's not allowed in there when they're out in case he tries to go over the electric fence to join them if they have a run around). Every few days we make it bit bigger and the next day, he sleeps ALL DAY in his stable. He's clearly been munching all night. You can see the contentment oozing out of him!

Now you know for Charlie to go well, you have to have your butt hanging out and an uncomfortable bra! ?

Lovely you had a great ride - always seems these ad hoc moments yield amazing results - almost like us not having any expectations because we’re not ‘prepared’ is the secret to then allowing ‘whatever’ to occur. Sometimes, especially with horses, our expectations can create resistance.

Haha! I think there's some truth in this - I really had to have my seat bones underneath me to stop them coming down even further and when I told his rider afterwards she said "you were probably super-aware of your rhythm and balance in the wrong bra." I think I was! I also think I was determined not to have to do too much sitting trot going into canter so I was extra assertive about canter (we run into canter a bit at the moment).
