Hi everybody, I just had a read of my first post and thought I'd try and write a brief update
Lunging is going well, and me and Sunny really have a bond now, I can free school over jumps, poles, etc. He knows back by pointing at individual legs, he turns on the forehand from the ground with no touching. He also bows his head. (I'm trying to get the whole bow! Half way there!
) He follows me when I walk around in the field and wants to come in with me. Bless him
And the best part of it all is I am now HACKING, well, little potters down the lane involving a lot of trotting, which I'm actually enjoying! It seems daft but it's such a relief for me.
Had a bit of a mishap yesterday, my older friend thought it'd be a good idea for us to go up a massive slope to get to a track only to come back down it again. Got up said slope alright and Sunny was well behaved on the way down, but pulling slightly sometimes so just a few half halts sorted him out. Then when we came to turn back, Breeze who my dad was riding went mental, threw in a couple of huge rears, trying to take off. Which then set of Sunny and Rion, who seemed to be squaring up to boot each other. I dismounted after this as I feel I have more control from the ground at the moment, walked to the end of the track down the massive slope and then got back on with the help of a fence and my lovely Sunny who stood nice and still, and then had a lovely walk back.
So everything going really well, still have an issue with forwardness in the school, I think he just really doesn't enjoy it. Any tips?
Cup of tea and chocolate hob nob for all that got to the end!
