So far everything is going really well and both Faye and Winnie are starting to look a little slimmer already.

They are happy being stabled and also out together in their little paddock. They have mixed in really well with the other horses don't mind the dog and seem very content in general.

They are a joy to groom and both lunge like pro's, they are excellent to catch and box too, we didn't hear a peep out of them on the way home.

They stand quietly to be tacked up and Winnie has already been ridden and hacked out.

We were amazed as she walked and trotted nicely around our little school in an outline and also hacked around the block past some very scary farm buildings and rubbish on her own.

The plan is some more schooling and also further hacking out both alone and in company over the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to get some ridden pictures over the next couple of days.

She really needs very little work done to her before she's ready for the show ring which is a good job as her owners are already pushing for her to be advertised.

I have to say I'm a little disapointed as I'm really fond of Winnie already as she has such a great little character.

Faye is less confident so we are letting her settle more before we see how she goes under saddle, she really is very sweet and not at all naughty, she's been excellent to handle and even my friends 3 year old can groom her and lead her about her field.

When she is nervous she doesn't do anything naughty she just leans right back as if she's going to lay down but her confidence is improving daily and I can't wait to get her into the show ring :)

Sorry for the essay, cookies if you get this far.

Oh I love Fells! I have an un-reg fell and she is just as you describe Faye. Nervy but not naughty at all, with tremendous personality! Id love to see some piccys!

Yey! Fells are the coolest. We need to see some piccies! My lad has a fabby temperament (just slightly stubborn sometimes!), he went for his 3rd ever hack this evening and had to content with his escort rearing the going backwards - bless him he tried to join in but wasn't quite sure what was going on, so in the end we just stood still!!

Melly does that!!! She prats about if the other horse is being good, but if they are having a numpty, she stands and stares at them as if to say "huh?" lol! x

Lol typical fells, they sound great.

My sisters fell has just got her shoes back on after about a year and a half out of work having a foal, think we might be selling tickets for the day sis gets back on her.

Photos from the day they arrived :)

They are both 13hh, Faye is 4 and Winnie 5 years old.

Faye was ridden today, she has really nice paces, is a bit wobbly and much greener than Winnie, but is quiet and has really good manners.
I'm so looking forward to spending some time bringing her on. The plan is now to spend some time hacking her out :)

She only shot foward a couple of steps when Winnie tried to climb over the stable door

A friend of a friend is coming to try Winnie out tomorrow, she wants something quiet to bring on and eventually share with her daughter. So fingers crossed that goes well.

It's official, the Fell ponies are fantastic!

Faye was an angel today when Winnie was taken out of the field today and had a nice lot of fuss of of Lady's sharers.

A family came to try Winnie today, she had to have four different riders on her, including two bouncing kids and was an angel, she really tried hard for them and listened.

They even took her round the farm and she didn't put a foot wrong. I have a feeling they were time wasters though.

Then she had her first bareback ride back to the field :D

They are both going to make seriously good family allrounders, I'm so proud of them :D
