Firstly sorry I abandoned my original thread on asymmetrical shoulders, a combination of jetlag, PMT and just having a bad day meant I just couldn't rationally respond to people and what with having no real answers myself just found myself feeling a bit hopeless and mopey.

Anyway, the physio came out to see us today (our vet authorised the visit) and has prescribed a 6 week course of physio to see how H responds. The thinking being that if the tension in his pelvis and across his loins is anything but muscle soreness as soon as that's relieved he's likely to go lame and if that's the case we'll get the vet out for a full work up so we can get to the root of the problem.

With his shoulders she was less concerned and just felt this was a combination of the way he's put together and the fact he's a lot greener than first thought and not using his muscles correctly.

I've notified the owners reps of this and they have agreed for me not to pay the deposit on him until the 6 weeks is up and we know what we're dealing with (H is on a 6 month trial and if all goes well will be purchased at the beginning of next year).

I'm keeping everything firmly crossed that this is simply soreness from being back in work (prior to me he was a glorified pet) and an ill-fitting saddle but I'm also realistic that I could be throwing money away on a horse that may end up going back to his owners, though if that's the case at least I'll know he's no longer in pain.

We've got a ton of exercises to do daily and are going back to basics with ground work for now so hopefully there'll be a marked improvement in him by our next physio session, by which point our saddler will have hopefully been out to look at our current saddle.
