I haven't been on here for a long time and a lot has happened.

I have sold Archie. He was and is the most wonderful horse and we spent seven lovely years together but I decided that like the last bit of a jigsaw something was missing. It was his size. I couldn't get over the fact that at 16.3hh and built like a tank he felt just too big for me and in my mind, however good he was, there was always that 'what if he kicks off ...' For his sake and mine, I wasn't riding him much and he was bored stiff, I decided to find him a wonderful home, and I did. He is now settled at a wonderful home near Romsey in the lap of luxury and wants for nothing and is getting regular exercise and lots of fuss.

So we are both happy. And as I explained to my daughter, when you really love something it is better to let it go on and thrive than keep hold and watch it wither. My boy is thriving. I know I did the right thing.

I am in the process of buying another horse. All being well, my new horse arrives next week. He is a six year old Andalusian gelding and at 15.3 and a much smaller frame is much better suited. He is used to hacking and has been dressage schooled so may dip my toe in the water and take some lessons and go to a show or two this summer.

Will post some pictures shortly x

I was thinking of you the other day and was going to email you at some point to see how you were getting on.

Sorry that you sold Archie, I know how much you love him, but I'm sure you will have great fun with your new steed :)

Thank you, Mrs Elle. It was a decision I made in my head a long time ago but my heart and my love for him kept him with me for a long time. Once my heart stopped ruling my head he was advertised, I could have sold him one hundred times over, a home chosen and off he went. All within a week or so. I know he is having a fabulous time and is, most importantly, loved and cared for.

It's so true that saying... Good for you. Sad as it is, It sounds as if you have made sure he will be just as loved and thought of his needs first. Commendable!

How exciting that you will joining the Andalusian Owners Club!! Is he a registered PRE? Hope all goes well with your new horse. We will need another update next week then :D do we have a name for new horse?

Ooooo, TH are you an Andalusian owner too? No he isn't a PRE but no matter as gelded anyway.

His name is Poseidon, Pod or Pi will be his stable name but haven't decided. I am bursting with excitement. Please tell me TH, anyone, all about your Andalusians / PRE's.

How lovely! They are a lovely breed... It's a shame because you hear so many horror stories about them, most often from imported horses which I think is sad as they are just extremely refined cobs in my opinion! Well in Spain they do everything don't they.

My filly is only 2 but she's better behaved than the oldies! The ones I have known have been very gentle, very lovely horses and the stallions were schoolmasters and I saw many learn to ride on them. They are really forgiving yet so eager to please. I have done so much with mine already, done two big shows, we walk in Bath getting used to traffic etc and she takes it in her stride. She's definitely not a plod and won't take everything for granted. Like all horses, she appreciates a gentle patient approach. You can't really force her to do anything... Then again, she is a girl!!!! Lol!! That said, I have had no trouble errr... "Suggesting" things to her... E.g. Loading, walking over a bridge, crossing traffic etc...

I think you will have fun with your boy!!!

Have you joined BAPSH yet or the Facebook page? You don't have to have a registered PRE to join. Will you be coming to the breed show?
