I haven't been on here for a long time and a lot has happened.
I have sold Archie. He was and is the most wonderful horse and we spent seven lovely years together but I decided that like the last bit of a jigsaw something was missing. It was his size. I couldn't get over the fact that at 16.3hh and built like a tank he felt just too big for me and in my mind, however good he was, there was always that 'what if he kicks off ...' For his sake and mine, I wasn't riding him much and he was bored stiff, I decided to find him a wonderful home, and I did. He is now settled at a wonderful home near Romsey in the lap of luxury and wants for nothing and is getting regular exercise and lots of fuss.
So we are both happy. And as I explained to my daughter, when you really love something it is better to let it go on and thrive than keep hold and watch it wither. My boy is thriving. I know I did the right thing.
I am in the process of buying another horse. All being well, my new horse arrives next week. He is a six year old Andalusian gelding and at 15.3 and a much smaller frame is much better suited. He is used to hacking and has been dressage schooled so may dip my toe in the water and take some lessons and go to a show or two this summer.
Will post some pictures shortly x
