Any that don't look huge and bulky? It's for an Arab and I just think they would all look ridiculous on him, his also got a wide short head so is not a standard size I need full brow band cob headpiece, pony cheek pieces and most seem to be like a flash or grackle nose band, he doesn't like any sort of flash so I am not sure how his going to be with them.

He is a mild head shaker as in rubs his nose on leg and he only does it when he has a bridle on, I am currently trying different set up with the bridles I have, so will try different browbands was going to pad the poll and remove the nose band to see if any of it makes any difference.

So any advice or thoughts would be very welcome.

Tigger's a tb but I have a similar mix and match issue as he has a short head and little nose. Full headpiece and browband and cob cheekpieces in a traditional bridle. Neither cob nor horse nosebands look right. I have him in a small horse micklem. I actually think the style suits his head but its all a matter of taste.

I bought a made to measure bridle that fitted the many odd shapes my horse has! Nose bands, brow bands and comfort headpiece designed to relieve pressure as my horse used to shake his head when a bridle went on. You can pick many colours, colour combinations, thickness and either plain or bling it up!

Contact Lara from Wolds Exclusive Bling on Facebook, she makes them to fit your horse from cheek pieces etc to the right length. she also comes out to measure and try different types of bridles that suit or you can hire one to try. Not much more than I used to buy in Stubben or other top named bridles.

Horsemanship saddlery do lovely bridles.. You can mix and match the parts and they come with a cavesson noseband. They also sell an alternative throat lash to the one that comes with the bridle so you can take the noseband off. My mare used to rub her head but stopped when I took the noseband off.

Dever Saddlery - they do an english or an enconomy range and you can buy all the parts individully, which is what I need too as my sec D is in a full head and brow with cob cheeks. I bought the classic comfort headstall and then a couple of different nosebands to go on it (hunter for everday, grackle for jumping) and i'm really pleased with it.

Another vote for Horsemanship Saddlery. I bought their Saturn bridle for my 15.2hh WB x TB who has a tiny head (smaller than my Anglo-Arab's!) and it doesn't look too 'heavy' on her at all. I had to mix and match the sizes of the various pieces, which they were fine about. The leather is really soft too and I thought it was good value for what it cost.

Another vote for Henry James. The leather is beautiful and their customer service is brilliant. I have a Micklem and loved it on my previous pony but doesn’t suit my new one. However like others have said, leather isnt great.
