Seems like forever since we've done a BE event and this one in the sun too!
Rosie and I did PN on Saturday. Ground was perfect and we were nearly last to go, so not many people warming up for Dressage.
She felt a bit lethargic which she always is when the weather changes from chilly to hot, but did a really nice test for us, as Dressage isn't our forte (36.5)
SJ was in a large ring with lots of boxed in trees. Course wasn't too big I thought, and again, ground perfect. She did a lovely clear, and put in a couple of her huge trot strides in front of the last 2 fences. Often a bit off-putting by she's always done it!
I walked the XC with Prudunce and was really worried. Hay cart - massive. Ditch/palisade thing huge!. I hate ditches in front of or underneath things, as Rosie used to stop dead at them all and I'd go over her head. She hasn't done that for quite a few years, but is often hesitant. Didn't think she'd make it over if she was hesitant.
Next jump was mahoosive trakehner. Nearly died seeing that, then noticed the alternative skinny at right-angles to it, with paddle through the Intro water after - phew!
So off we set. Spooked at the sand on the road crossing, and in front and behind some of the fences. Almost stopped for a play in the water, so completely lost impulsion at number 8 and bunny-hopped over it. Round to hay cart - fine. No 15, dreaded ditch/palisade. Soared over it! Was so pleased I gave her a huge cheer and pat, sure everyone in the vicinity thought I was nuts. Wimped out and took the alternative at the trakehner and went on to the finish with a couple of time penalties.
Knackered. Rosie was OK though
Really chuffed to hear over the tannoy that we'd come 5th. Bought a couple of photos and went home!
