lol, should have popped this on my last post but hey...

Anyway, just out of curiosity, what 'extras' do you put in your horses feed? I have always used apples and carrots but have heard of people adding other things such as bananas (tried that, he went "ugh!") and cabbage.

swede, carrots, apples, have heard they like turnip but haven't tried that one. We just give what we have at the moment, although don't start doing that till they'll run out of grass which hopefully wont be for a while

carrots, apples, bananas (including the skin for Chloe - she foraged it from the field once after I'd thrown it away), pears (the riper the better), swedes, turnips, cucumber, oranges, satsumas, cabbage, sprout peelings (but horse very carefully ate and licked the food off each leaf), melon, blackberries and raspberries picked from the side of the road...

My mum gets a lot of fruit as she's a teacher, and she gets the left overs from all the free fruit given out to the younger children, so the horses have a good selection.

Yup - infants children get free fruit.
Apples, carrots, banana's, pears.........a strawberry (once a year), vine tomatoes (they love those - not!) and sugar snap peas in the summer.

It's to encourage healthy food tastes, help children who don't get breakfast and make sure that blood sugars stay high, because that's what the brain needs.

My school also provides cold filtered water as well. Children don't drink enough water and it helps with brain function. (milk still has to be paid for unless achild is on free school meals).

Star loves the weekends after pears or apples or carrots have been on the menu

. Usually they accumulate over the week, but are still ok - just, on the Friday. They wouldn't be ok by the following Monday though....... so they don't go to waste.

Mine just gets carrots and apples.
I've tried parsnips, sweed, celariac , bananas and pears- all of which he refuses to eat the fussy monster

I will try some various berries and other fruits though now, after reading this
