So here is (another) update on Puzzlybear :) Some of you might remember posting a year or so ago how much of a nightmare he was :( BUT we've moved on from this (fingers crossed) and cannot stress to other owners enough what a year turned away to chill can do! :) He has become a cuddly, lovely and trusting horse to be around, and I couldn't be more pleased! Yesterday he went on a hack to somewhere he'd never seen before and didn't blink an eye. He will let you happily cuddle with him in his paddock and touch him all over. He leads out like a lamb and never shows his teeth anymore :D It really is such an improvement and even though he was handled, led out etc etc I really do think this dramatic change has come from him growing up and noticing the world isn't as scary as it seems :D Sorry for the rambling, just means a lot to be able to have my horse following me like a lamb round the village after he was declared 'dangerous' by so many people :D SO...here is the boy :D

I quite agree with the turning away for a year. Sometimes if you try to push through a problem you just create a fresh one. Turning away can make all the difference, not to every horse but to some. I guess you have to know your horse and what you are dealing with.

Lovely boy and nice to read such a positive thread.

Thanks for all the lovely comments :)

So very true! Really think I pushed him too far at some points through ignorance and looking back I do feel sorry for him as everything really must have been 'that' scary but so glad that's he's turned into a lovely boy now :D

Is he in your garden!? :D

Haha yes he comes to have a nosy, and also enjoys nipping off my mums roses that have just come through so have to keep him away from those ;)

How old is he now? Glad things are working out well :-)

Thanks :)

He'll be 4 in July so he's not old ;) but some [word to horrendeous to use publically] broke him in at 2 :( to cut a long story short I'm in a country living with my parents, i don't speak the language and everyone was telling my rents that my horse was dangerous blah blah (yes he had a few kicking sessions and happened to break a bone but youngsters are unpredictable and things happen) so he was carted off (without my permission) to this 'amazing horse handler'. Broke my heart :( Demanded he came back a few weeks later after he was being ridden at 2. Was fuming. cantered in a deep school constant circles in an ill fitting saddle. And having no one around who understood why it was so bad, was even worse (from an unhorsey family in the backs of the backs Tuscany in a tiny village). He came back with cuts on his face..apparently he needed 'to learn respect'. An horrendous time and still upsets me to think about it now :( :( But he came home and was aloud to chill in his paddock and become and big boy (still working on that  )

:D aw he is gorgeous!! well done you just giving him time .. you will have a friend for life ;) ..he is just lovely xxx
