Oh boy! Just goes to show how easy it is to get used to one horse and one saddle!
We now own a 6 yr TB who has sprinted (sort of, 22 times & was a bit slow!) & had previously done BE90. He fractured his scapula spine within a week of having him, had 12 weeks off, then gradually brought back into work, walking in arena, 20 min hacks out etc. during his rehab he has been a saint.
My usual ride is a Spanish chap, very bouncy & cheeky, have a super comfy saddle which my bum stays firmly in throughout all antics.
The TB & the PRE are the same size, but boy! What a difference to ride! I feel like a complete idiot! He has such a huge thrust from behind he nearly exocets me out of the saddle, and that's just at a trot! I ping up and down like a thelwell cartoon, and the transition to canter is huge! Sitting to his canter is an art too, as I feel his hind end is going to overtake the front end!. Still I have to say I have only ridden him 3 times as OH did the basic rehab. His saddle isn't as comfy as mine (although fits him perfectly!) so just feeling like a total novice at the moment.
I have to say he has a lovely mouth, and needs a lot of leg, whereas the other one goes at a thought.
He is wearing me out!
