This is Jester....he is suppossed to be a Warmblood/Irish Sports Horse but not sure :confused: If anyone else has suggestions on his breeding please say..!!!!

I would like to possibly show him in hand this year (not that I would know where to start lol), what do you think..?? He is will be 3 around May time, is about 15.3/16hh now (any ideas how big he might get..?? I have no clue on his parents)
Its been commented on many many times what lovely flowing paces he has, I have no clue but he does look verrryyy pretty when he moves :o:rolleyes:

Im his 5th home since April and he came to me with a stack of issues but is really coming on in leaps and bounds now, he is going to be a great guy for the future and has a temperament to die for :D
 
He is very striking

I'd have a go at showing him, most local shows have in hand coloured classes nowadays
 
He has lovely markings and looks like a fab trot, but IMO he could have a tad more condition for showing, I'm not saying make him fat as that was always one of my pet hates whilst showing my old girl. He needs more a top line, but he is still a baby so it will probably come with time. :)

He really is a lovely looking lad :) x

Oh definitely, it takes time :)

I'm sure once he is munching away on good grass (when and if the horrible weather ******s off and we have some sun!) he will fill out a bit too.

He's going to be a smashing young chap :)
 
He's got good markings although first photo makes him look quite long in the back although think it's his markings (more white on that side. He's clearly got more growing to do because he's looks slightly croup high unless it's angle of photo.

Being A baby he needs to fill out and mature but after 5 homes in such a short space of time it's great that you are taking your time with him and helping him over his issues :)

It's all experience so I would get him out in hand and see what comments you get.

Is the 3rd photo blurred or do I need to go to spec savers? :D

It's his neck that makes me think trotter or that type with a high head carriage (hackney but would have to see his trot). With his long straight back he also looks kinda american saddlebred.

Def got him out showing. He can still do Youngstock classes and then the coloured classes and part bred classes.

Dr. Green is just around the corner, so wouldn't be adding anything to gain any condition now imo.

Plaited, trimmed feathers, jaw, ear line & pulled & banged tail. Nice inhand bridle, with a nice subtle stainless snaffle (i hate those nylon inhand bits with a passion!)
You'll need tweed jacket, shirt, tie, darkish trousers, comfy boots, hat, brown gloves & a cane.

With regards to breed, he could be a number of mixes! Not something you really need to worry about for showing him though :)

He looks quite weak along the topline which is obviously normal for his age, so if he's still looking that immature come summer, when trotting up in the ring try and encourage a lower outline and not head up in the air, this will create a nicer overall picture :D
 
He certainly has plenty of rein! Needs more condition on him but lovely markings. Why don't you register with CHAPS and enter some of their shows - judges will tell you if he any good.

I agree, I have a pure bred American Saddlebred and I can definitely see similarities.
 
Get more muscle on him and that maybe he may look the goods, to me more under the saddle than in hand his head carriage is too high, typical irish traveller bred trotter. I know I have one only she's pure bay which they don't like, bred by Dennis the best road race horse for 10 years gone back to Ireland, he's most probably dead by now and coming up 8 years she's as thin and skinny as they come, they are bred for speed and nothing else.
 
Yes I agree with Echo Bravo and others, he is a trotter and I doubt he will ever have enough depth to show in hand and I think it would be very hard to get much of a top line on him for the show ring.
 
An ISHxWB could come in many forms, and could indeed have the irish cob/trotter in there somewhere!

I don't actually think he is THAT long in the back. He is quite slim, so a little herring gutted, which adds to the effect, as does his markings on his wither, which makes his wither look as though it finishes earlier than it actually does. I think he will fill out as he gets older and get a lot chunkier.

Just take your time, take him out for a play, see what he does well in. Have fun!

He still needs alot more condition but Im trying to resist the temptation to overfeed him :o We are moving to a livery yard at the end of the month so Im hoping to start doing a little longreining etc with him to build up muscle and give him something to think about :)
I have done a bit of research on the trotters as it hadnt occurred to me that he could be. He doesnt seem to have the same sort of paces though..?? :confused: I suppose it will remain a mystery but I love him anyway :o
