Well, we went to Royal Leisure yesterday with my new 5 year old who was doing her 2nd show.
Arrived just in time to walk the course for Discovery. Nice course, up to height with plenty of related distances.
Warmed up lovely and went in and jumped clear! Admittedly it was a bit by the skin of my teeth but still very pleased as she started a bit green.
There were only 8 clears from the first round so went into the jump off aiming for a steady clear. Had a bit more leg on into the first and she pinged over it and turned really well so we ended up being quite competitive. Then I missed the last fence. I had asked OH the jump off and I thought he said it was 5, 11, 9, 10, 7 a & b. What he actually said was 7 & 8!! The worst thing was that the last fence was in a straight line, 4 strides away!

Anyway, apart from muppet on top, I was very pleased and very excited about the future!
Thanks for reading!

Thanks guys - she was absolutely amazing! I've only had her 3 weeks and she just takes everything in her stride (including pulling up between a double and an oxer!!)

Can't wait to get out and do more on her now, aiming at the Winter Novice qualifiers at Quob on 8th March so I'll try and jump a couple of 1.10/1.20s before then.
Will hopefully get my finger out and post some piccies at some point.

Reminds me of my daughter in Discovery jump off who did the most fantastic world-beating round, including a turn that even her RI said she shouldn't think about attempting ... only to miss going across the finish line. It took her a good couple of minutes to realise why everyone was shouting at her! Duh!!

I think everyone must have done something similar at some point - the great thing is that your girl went so incredibly well. Onwards and upwards!!

You have a new mare?! When did that happnen? I want details!!

Sounds very promising, shame about the last... but we've all been there (i remember jumping at patchetts last year and totally forgetting my way). A friend of mine has just qualified for the winter novice...the competition is very tough, but i'm sure'll you'll do well.

N xx

I've done that too. Started walking and gave him a pat and everyone was shouting at me. Realised and jumped the last, but they eliminated me for outside assisstance!!

I'm feeling much better knowing I'm not the only one!
Hi Nadine. I sold Ollie as the plan was to have him for a year to give me experience jumping bigger tracks (which he definately did) and bought Varleen who is 5 rising 6. She's really sweet and very green but such a trier. The only problem is that she is 16.2 now and when she fills out she will be massive! I think Pete has got his eye on her though for 6 months time!
It was good to hear about your lesson with Di, when are you competing again?

I'm supposed to be out on Wed!! Think i will just be jumping the Disco as Fee hasnt been out for about 2 months and i need to try and get my DC's before cut off...Then i have another lesson with Di at the end of the week and two shows planned for next week, so full steam ahead!!

She sounds lovely!! Does Pete still have his horse?
