First time on a horse, not only risking her own head but that of her baby.
It's not just a stood still event either, there are further images of them walking around a field :/

The mind truly boggles, I've had to keep deleting a comment I've been itching to write just to avoid a fight. She's an acquaintance from school, not someone I know well enough to say anything to(!)

Stupidity on the horse owners fault, the "riders" and anyone else witnessing it happen frankly.

But you're an experienced rider - the op states that this is the mom's first time on a horse as well so if pony did anything her chances of staying on would be slim

If that's the mom's first time on a horse, why pick on her, she probably isn't too aware of the dangers, unlike the person whose horse it is.

Person on the horse has no idea of the risks, the horses owner needs a kick up the backside though. But to be honest, I wouldn't worry about it too much, dumb humans aren't exactly an endangered species....

Yes it's dumb, but if the horse is quiet it's really not the end of the world. I used to take my little ones out for a trot in the governess cart regularly, and if that were to go badly wrong there would have been carnage. However, the nearest I ever came to killing one of my babies was a simple slip on the stairs...

have to agree that it's very unfair to post someones picture on here without her permission, and before any one says 'well she posted it on Fb for the world to see' doesn't excuse it as iMO you can set your pivacy so that only friends can see your pictures, the same can't be said for here. I would be severely issed off if someone posted my pics somewhere without asking

This! I cant see the photo as its now been removed (so I assume the person has seen this post...). But Ive put my 16 month old son on my 17.1hh before! Only for a mosey round the yard though, and I usually have a harness on my son so I can whip him off if I lost my grip on him (I hold him on obviously from the ground - would never ride about with him). To be honest, Ive found my shetland has been the most dangerous so far for him riding! My 17.1hh and 16hh horses turn into donkey-mode with him, whereas my shetland is a little b*stard and tries to either buck him off or kick the hell out of me walking alongside so he's moved onto his 13.2hh already!
