My spine is not bent the way it's supposed to be.

My reflexes are totally absent - as in not there at all!

I have advanced osteoarthritis after my riding rta in 2001.

My movement is exceptionally limited.

And, if I ever want to have children I kind of need to do it now as I will (definitive) have trouble carrying them through pregnancy...

Oh crap, I thought I'd at least get some hope from this appintment - apparently not!!

The good news is...
... as riding eases my back more than anything else (and I have always said this) I have been advised that the more riding I can do the better - FAB!!

I'm just not allowed to fall off - oh bugger - probably have an ignorant twit (choice words not allowed) coming in at livery in the next month or so.....

Hmmm, what to do now?!?!?!?
OH not impressed with "need to have kids quickly" or the "chronic arthritis by the time I'm 25" line - bugger, bugger, bugger!

**Off to bury head (back) in bucket of rather pleasant sand thank you**

Thanks for all your hugs!!

I am over the moon that I can continue to ride, although I really would have done anyway...!!!

I may be 22 but I have always always wanted children and although I'll wait until we can financially afford / are ready for them it would truly destroy me if I couldn't have them!!!

(The reason I'm in this mess by the way is because I rode a horse years ago that bolted from a bridleway into a main road and we were hit by a car, I was airlifted to hospital, (horse put down), and messed up a lot of my body) I was, however, very lucky overall...!!

Fingers crossed though hey, we're due to marry August 2010 so kids after that then...!!!?!

Thanks again!

Ooo - kind of good and bad news for you isn't it? As others have said at least you know what you are dealing with now and can plan accordingly!! Good news that riding is good for you!!

To help with the management your osteoarthritis long term do some research into homeopathey etc as the painkillers etc from doctors have some bad side effects both now and long term especially as you have years ahead of you.

Good luck with it all.

Hugs xx

After such a horrific accident most would be put off riding ever again.
I take my hat off to you!
You are a strong lady.
BTW I had 3 kids by the age of 23! and it was the best thing in my life!!!!!!!!

May be worth finding a good, qualified homeopath that is local to you - there is a website of proper qualified homeopaths. If it can help with your managment and slow down the progression it will be a huge benefit to you - can usually adjust any treatment for pregnancy etc which is when you may need more help due to the strain it is going to put on your body. I'm a big fan of prevention being better than cure.

Good luck - if I can be of any help PM me.

Canasta, thank you! I have always said I would still ride if I was one legged and blind - no dis respect meant to anyone as I know there are fantastic para-riders out there...
I grew up riding and would never change it, the feeling and enjoyment and everything else is just too much!

Slinkyunicorn, cheers - you may well recieve a pm off me when I get around to researching Homeothapy properly (best intentions and all that..!!) We currently have four horses, three orphan lambs, and 14 (soon to be 15 cause I've just rescued another) dogs at home.....!!!
