Had a very busy day!

Went for a nice longer ride, right through town and down the main Marlborough on his own. :D

After getting on him and having to squeeze past a delivery lorry having pallets of stuff being unloaded by a tractor [still moving and unloading as we went by! Think I'm the only crazy person that's ever asked them to carry on and not turn off the engine haha!]. Had just got on him here, and thought I'd faff around first to take a photo, not focus and think 'Hmmm baby + unloading truck....'....priorities haha! :o Anyways...like I'd expected, he walked right on by and didn't even take notice! I love that coblet.

Oh, so then got out on the road, to come head on to 2 combines, another tractor and a tractor and grain trailer, with a few cars behind us waiting also. I did slightly poop myself, I'll admit. And baby coblet.....again, didn't even acknowledge them!

Oh and we now canter on cue also. Sit twice, sat canter...and off we go.

Sigh. He's got some balls bless him. More than I do!!!

Oh, and my own little personal baby coblet came out for some calorie burning fun on the stubble also.

He tries to be impressive....but really, he's far too lardy to get his butt any higher. He thinks if he lifts his tail as high as he can, it's EXACTLY the same as bucking. ;)

Bless him aye ;)

I want to come work with you!!!! Love cobs.

While I think about it do you have any good ideas to get a cob more forward? If I ask for a more forward walk he trots, just cannot get his head round it. Only time I get more forward is when we saw the hunt and if he thinks he's jumping. Goes from slow git to idiot, did think about changing his bit but unsure what to. Hanging cheek french link in the min, was thinking the same but straight bar?

Hehehe thankyou!!

Sparks here too: http://youtu.be/U2p7buu9z7c

With regards to the walking, most the time it comes down to fitness I've always found. Keep working on it and do lots of transitions trot, walk, trot, walk, etc just to get him starting anticipate 'something' about walk, rather than thinking 'Ah we're walking, relaxing time'. It's just getting them to realise, walking is actually part of 'work' also. Any that are a bit sluggish, I do carry a stick with me [I never normally carry a stick, in fact don't even own one anymore, so it's generally a branch snapped off if I need one as it's rare lol :o Cheap I know lol.] Then the normal, two kicks, no response, then give them just one short obvious tap on the flank with it. I'd much rather have to do that once or twice, rather than drain my energy using that much leg to keep them going and deadening their sides. :) Lot's of hill work to help muscles, etc. And reward when they do go forwards...they soon learn [mostly].
Though, some are just like that I'm afraid as a default setting....if yours is one of them, then not a huge amount to do other than be grateful for a quiet cobby! We have an older one in here who as far he's aware...life goes at his own pace in walk [slow].

I like any cobby I'm doing to go forwards on it's own, but still be able to have my leg resting on their sides all the time [not having to 'gingerly' placing your leg back on them!]. I'm quite lazy if I'm honest, I have my legs on them to guide them/move away/etc...but mostly, all go by just voice eventually. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I much prefer doing that lol! :o

Thanks for the answer. I love your little cobs :D

He is quite fit, no matter which way we hack we have hills :D live in a bowl :)

Could be he's bored, will try the transitions. He's good to your leg if you carry a stick, which I do as he can get lazyer (never thought he could but oh yeah he can) if you don't have one. I only had to ask OH to pass me my stick and he picked himself up of the floor and "walked". Must just be him, maybe I ask to much, but when he wants to go he has so much energy and forwardness that I just wish we had a midle ground :D

Baby coblet is gorgeous :D. I have a lovely baby cob aswell who is taking everything in her stride. She has surprised me with what she goes past.
Sparks looks like he was enjoying himself.
