Robin that is. 90% of the time he is angel 10% he most certainly is not. Today was a bad day. He was not impressed because it was raining (I did relent and went and stood under cover for the worst to pass), windy and he wanted to be eating hay. Yo had to come help me on (when he suddenly stood like an angel with angel eyes on telling her I was telling lies about him not standing still). He then said he wanted to right and down to back fields, I said no we are going left so we can have a quick ride round the cut hay field, which you will love. When he stated his point again, I stated my point again and he said “I could buck you know”. 1/10 for effort from him I have to say. He muttered but set off. He then had a drama reaction to the wire grate in the field which he now walks past fine but not today. Got a telling off for that one. Grumbled under his breath down the road.
Asked him to turn off the road into field. He thought he could have a great time spooking at the water tank. Suddenly realised we were going in the field. He cheered up immensely. Walked nicely until vaguely pointing towards home were power bounce was engaged.
A hare darted roughly in front of us, miles away from us, so got the leap spin argh omg mum act. Was told off again. Continued power bounce till on the final side, pointing up hill towards home. He is actually quite often better just getting on with things so let him trot. He suggested canter twice, but pulled up when I said no and actually trotted very nicely. Much happier boy walking back up the road and then attacked his haynet as if he was on the last breath.
Good thing is, though, that about 18 months ago that behaviour would have terrified me I would probably not tried to ride in the first place. Then would have vowed never ever to hack again. Today it didn’t worry me, in fact I thought him funny. Progress indeed!
