I have a Selle Francais and Spanish combined!
Does that help?
Am rubbish at putting photos on here, think there is a pic on my status page.
Can gladly supply more by pm e mail.
Mine is a versatile girl, with beaucoup de chic, as the French say!
I have one! She is amazing! Very brave has a go at everything. She has a natural carriage and got the best of both worlds by being good at collection and extension. I would really recommend them. Will try to put a pic on later.
Warrior the (almost) black horse in my signature below is TB X Andalucian (but with no papers). He's a talented dressage horse - or would be if I had enough time to make the most of him, but I have two endurance Arabs to keep fit as my first priority!
This is a very popular cross for bullfighting, because it is brave and nimble (and the Spanish won't risk their PREs), this actually makes them a very good sports horse. There are several in Spain, but beware, these have generally been bred for Vaquero or Bullfighting and therefore can be a handful. There are a few of them now bred in the UK and these would be a safer bet.
I know several of them, they do differ slightly depending on breeding but if say by a very baroque stallion they tend to look more Spanish and excel at dressage etc. However I do know of a couple by a more modern stallion (who competed PSG) both out of the same eventing mare and it is interesting that they both look very much like eventers and in fact this is where they are aimed, both are brave, love the flatwork and have very very tidy jumps
Lots of pros with these horses, if anything the only con is that they can be hot, sharp and in some circumstances a little nuerotic, but someone used to TBs would get on brilliantly with them.
We do, a buckskin gelding. He was imported from Spain as a 3 year old. He is a super horse and can turn his hoof to anything. He is very clever and quick to learn, loves attention but can get stressy if he gets bored. My daughter used to event him and had a ball - he moved well, jumped big and was quick and brave across country. She used to do pairs with a friend with an ex-racer and had no problems keeping up. Sadly, our boy injured a tendon so only does dressage these days but I think it is a great combination.
