Has anyone else met one of these crosses? I just wondered what their temperaments were like? Mine is like no horse I have ever met (erm, special shall we say) and I wondered if there is something in that cross that's done it, or if it's just him.

I've met a whole lot of horses in my time from working with eventers in NZ and UK, show jumpers and trekking horses in NZ, hunter jumpers in the USA and dressage and leisure horses in England and I have never met one quite like mine!

Welshies are in a whole class of their own to start with! Adding Andalusian sounds like you'll end up with a hot headed horse, that's opinionated, stubborn but very intelligent, forward going and willing to give anything a go and not to mention stunningly gorgeous! (think i remember seeing pics of yours and yep - he's a stunner!) my welsh is prone to the odd mad moment where she appears to have no sense of self preservation too!

Never come across one other than yours though! Sounds like a fantastic horse for the right person but an accident waiting to happen for a novice.

May be totally wrong but that's my guess for a horse of those two breeds having known both!

As you know my lad is Welshie/cob x Friesian and a grade 'A' plonker, like yours, he is like no other horse i`ve ever met lol ... I`d say it`s the welshie in them. That side of it seems to be like marmite, people either love 'em or take a serious dislike to them. + in the Andalusian (or in my case Friesian) and you have a whole heap of fun lol

I guess he is unique for a reason! Definitely hot headed, sharp, a fast learner, no self preservation despite a serious sense of the world being out to get him, prone to panic attacks and bouts of extreme adrenaline that blank him out to the rest of the world, a cracking scopey jumper cocky as hell but lacking any real confidence, funny, chatty (mutters constantly at me when trick training), generous and kind but kind of insane, tries his hardest at everything but loses the plot randomly, notices everything, hyper but usually polite, sometimes uncontrollable. I could go on and on about what an enigma he is. On Tuesday he crashed us both into the ground cross country schooling as he was being ridiculous and yet the day after I was riding him in a bitless plodding round the field. I guess I'll never know if it's the breeding or just a screw loose somewhere! Just as well I live him to pieces!
