I joke! I love the little guy really but he's so full of himself lately. :(

I think he's feeling a bit too well as was a bit naughty today and decided to do all work in the school in a medium trot. We either did walk, medium trot or very fast canter. :p Got some nice moments and decided to bring him in as I was getting a bit stressed.

But got a very nice exercise rug which he looks very smart in. :D

Also- a little advice out hacking. He is napping basically when we walk away from home its very slow but going towards home he is very forward bound and a bit too fast sometimes jogging and throwing his weight around. Wha can I do to help this?

Disclaimer- no nasty comments about me being un-grateful etc!

must be spring grass coming through!! He sounds like he was having more fun than you! Glad he is better after his shoulder prob hope you have sorted it out now and it was just his rug.
P.s with more spring grass he will put on some lovely ocndition and become even naughtier...enjoy the spring haha

Gasped when I saw the title of this post!!! Don't do that to us!
My horses both go faster towards home than away from. The old boy started jogging and prancing towards home today - probably just spring grass - I love him when he's like this as it seems like he's forgotten how old he actually is.

Lots of horses are feeling "well" atm.
My share pony is usually a saint, and very slow, but recently we have had to use the "exciting things" bridle for hacking.
When she knows we are going home, she starts "bouncing", well not literally, but tucks her head in, starts pratting around a bit. It doesnt bother me, just have to push her through it, but you are not the only one ;)

Would never give him away- no worries! :D

So if I pushed him on going towards home would that help? Or would it just make me feel like I'm the one in control?

Depends what he is doing. My share pony is tucking behind the contact, and crabbing sideways and bouncing slowly, so keeping my hands soft and pushing her on helps stop it, and makes her walk on properly.

It starts off as a very brisk walk which I then use half halts to try and slow down which then makes him joggy and bouncy. He will then try and swing quarters into road and every now and again he will plunge his head down which unseats you then trys to take off.

If I just left him in the brisk walk he eventually breaks to a a trot which isn't great.

I WILL HAVE HIM :D :D :D
I think they are all feeling well mine keeps making his own entertainment at the moment  and as for the hacking is there any way you can turn in another loop so he is no longer going home? like go round the field again (dont know if I am making any sense but I know what I mean).

My pony is the same coming home, the best thing to do is ignore him and totally relax, giving him a long rein and telling him to whoa helps or if he really won't settle I just make him trot until he wants to walk!
