Had a good ride was very cold though so did lots of warming up! I can quite happily say leg yielding is mastered, getting there with shoulder in, turn on the forehand just about mastered and he can't get his head arounf demi-pirouette so very pleased with him :)

Half way through our ride all the horses in the neighbouring field decided to go for a massive gallop :eek: I got a bit tense on him as I was expecting him to go bonkers as he always feels like an un-exploded bomb! But did he look? No he just carried on working bless him.

I have a lesson tomorrow if it doesn't snow as we don't want to tow in the snow, but if it does snow I'll have a lesson anyway but on one of her horses :D

So I've been thinking long and hard about Andy and he is a lovely horse but I' not sure he is my horse, if this makes much sense? I will see what my instructor says tomorrow she seems brilliant at matching me up with horses.

Ohh and apologies in advance for any angry posts from me today, I'm in a really bad mood for some reason and keep unintentionally snapping at everyone!!

What a lovely chap, sounds talented, and what a good boy for not getting in a bother with the others tarting around!
Sounds silly but I wouldn't worry about him feeling right for you. If he ticks the boxes and you feel safe on him then the bond and 'rightness' will come with time.
For what it's worth you look smashing on him!

And you really are a tiny person!! He looks like a good 16hh or so with you on :D

Maybe you are not sure he is your horse because of everything you have had to go through? It's just a thought and I could be entirely wrong. Either way you look very good together :)

RE you're not feeling that he's right for you... obviously, I don't know you at all, but it can (as you'll know) take a while to build up a bond with a new horse. Obviously, if you're really thinking 'actually, no', then he's not the right horse for you. If it's so-so, then maybe see how it goes if you've got the liberty of time. You seem to love riding him. Hope everything goes well :)

glosgirl- I'm not hugely worried atm, we have him for little while yet. Its werid cause with Koko it seemed like we clicked instantly and I was meant to have him whereas I'm not feeling that with Andy.

jesstickle- Thats nothing, want to see me turn a 10hh to a 13.2? haha Its magic :D

naza- I've had him since sunday eve but due to weather etc have only ridden 3 times :o

monkeybum- I know very hairy but were not going t clip him until we buy him as its unfair to give him back clipped if we don't want him :p

shampain- Thank you, its definatly not a 'no' but I haven;t had a chance to ride him in an open space yet

He lookes just like a pony we had a trial a few years back. I would have said it was the same pony, but think he's a bit too old. He didn't come from the S Glos area originally by any chance?

Yeah, if you were so close with your horse before then it's pretty natural for it to feel slightly anticlimactic if there's not that sort of immediate connection with a new one. You'll figure it out. x]

Hiya, he looks sweet.

I can understand where your coming from about the click, could be due to what youve been through. ButI know when i was looking for horses joint with my mum after both selling due to babies (long story she had me young and is now remarried). We sat down and said everything we were looking for, anyway looked at i dont know how many, found one that on paper was exactly what we were looking for be to get back into small BSJA safe enough for mum to hack ect. and he was lovely but we did not click but kept open mind, then a friend of ours found one he thought would suit us, wasnt complety what we were looking for but i was on him 2 mins and said to mum were getting him!!LOL We did get a trial but we ended up with him, was spooky to hack (although my mum was plenty capable to handle this just maybe not as relaxing as she though, i jumped big tracks on so in theory not as all what we looking for BUT we clicked. SOrry to ramble on but it does happen.

But as you said youve got time on your hands so it may help. :)

Thank you :) you've been very helpful through this whole ordeal and your advice has been very useful!

I've always said don't buy a horse if you don't feel 100% about them but I don feel 100% about Andy but I'm not sure if he's the horse for me. He's a lovely horse though and as you can see his flatwork does need a lot of work but he's very willing :)

Ah im really glad ive helped. :)

Yer can totaly see what you mean. Yer the he looks like hes got the flatwork there just out of practise, it will come as he gets stronger.

Can totaly see where your coming from. Least youve got a trial and if hes not the horse for you, it will make you know even more when the right one comes, if that makes sense!! Its not always the one thats best on paper or exactly what your looking for but there right for you!! :)

Lots of lessons and it will get there, hopefully will be good enough so we can get out eventing in the spring :)
 
He is lovely! You won't be able to tell whether he is the horse for you after riding him just three times. Did you say you were thinking about getting a horse to bring on and sell? Could you not do that with him and then if you really liked him, you could keep him or if you still don't think he's for you in a couple of months time, you could sell him on. Just an idea anyway. :)

Exactly.
When i was looking for my 1st pony i went looking for a WHP, gelding, preferably bay and about 10-14 years old.
I came home with a 14hh piebald gypsy cob mare that was 8 and had only been broken for just over a year...... but i fell in love with her as soon as I saw her head over the stable door. She was perfect! We diffinately just clicked.

On the other hand my second horse, Tom, took a while to bond with. Again he wasnt what I had gone out for. But I wasnt as easy as it was with Holly. I think because my bond wih Holly had been so good. It felt hard for me to give that to Tom know. If that makes sense?

So I think not being 100% on him is not necessarily a bad thing. And you have the luxury of time which is good. I would just say dont rush into anything, just try to relax and see if it all starts to slot into place with him.

He looks lovely BTW!! :D I think once he has muscled up a bit and got a bit fitter the flatwork will become easier. And if he is a trier then thats all you can ask for :)

Hope it doesnt snow so you can go enjoy a lesson on him!!

sj superstars- We did consider this but no because his owners would have sold him to us for a home for life and I just wouldn't want to sell him on after saying it would more or less be a long term thing.

Smily- Thank you :) We'll see how it goes, yeah he definatly needs more muscling, lots of hillwork and lunging for us :D Fingers crossed it doesn't snow :)
