To cut a long story short, I have tonight acquired a kitten from a bad situation. He's about 3 months old, ginger tom. I do not know yet whether I can keep him-I have a yard cat already and a lot depends on whether they get on and whether OH agrees (he's allergic, but then he's allergic to the outside generally). The right thing will be done by kitten-even if he needs rehoming after I get him jagged and neutered etc.

Kitten is scared and growly although has had some food. He's currently in a large dog cage in our very comfortable, enclosed hay barn with toys, litter, food, water and fleece blanket. I've had cats but never such a young kitten and I am not sure I am the best place for him as I don't really have time to spend with him.

Tips to win him round and introduce current cat please? Is it best to try and rehome him asap given what I've said? Current cat is a 4yo tom, a rescue and extremely laid back-although I don't know what he's like with other cats, there are no others nearby. The rescue never said he should be an only cat. Current cat has run of outside and huge utility room which would require some kitten proofing if we go that route (which wouldn't be a problem).
