Has anybody used Animal Friends Horse Insurance? My policy with Petplan is due for renewal. Quite an increase this year. I have just done a search and Animal Friends comes up with a very reasonable rate. Any knowledge of Animal Friends (good or bad) appreciated.

I have - and they were very good.

They paid out in excess of 3k for my poor cat for his chemotherapy over a year. There was no quibbles (on one occassion I needed to explicitly explain my claim form due to some confustion - as treatment for the virus lead to discovery of the cancer) - but after a couple of calls it was all sorted).

I still use them and wouldn't fail to recommend them.
 
I use for my dog, recently had a big claim and they were awful, refused my 1st claim though no valid reason given and company policy is 6-8 weeks for a 2nd claim to be addressed. They were very rude every time I rang, kept messing my paperwork up, very unprofessional and I eventually lost my temper and gave them what for.

I told them I would take it further them with the ombudsman, I got the money a week later. Bargepole
 
They took a while to settle my first claim and didn't get much out of then over the phone but they did eventually pay up and it was well in excess of 5,000. Needless to say my policy is now very expensive but have to make another long term claim so cannot now change companies. Still reckon they've paid me more than I've paid them :)
 
Thanks for all your replies. Does not look too favourable. I have phoned Pet Plan and have sorted my insurance with them for another year. Must say Pet Plan were very good when I had to make a claim.
