Animal Related Jobs

This year I am wanting to get my first job - parents felt I had to wait until I was 16 to have my first job as they feel under the age of 16 you are still a child and don't get paid enough, etc...

However, at the end of this summer I am allowed to get a job, however I don't particulary (sp) want to work in a pub or the likes, but something animal related would be far nicer. I know I have practically no chance of getting anything animal related, however does anyone have any ideas what animal related jobs are around to offer??

There is a local kennels near me - near enough to walk to - for people to put their dogs/cats when they are away on holiday. There is also a vets in walking distance, so thought maybe apply to do some volunteering and see if anything comes of it money wise a few months down the line - if not the volunteer work will look good on my CV. There is a local Wildlife and Wetlands Trust near me also, about a ten minute drive away which apparently pays quite well, so I have quite alot of options.

However does anyone else know of any animal related jobs in Gloucestershire, for a 16 year old girl, wanting to work one day over the weekend, possibly one day a week?? I have horses so a horsey job would be on the cards as well.

Am I looking for the impossible?? Anyone got any ideas/suggestions??

What do you want to do later in life, go to university etc?
If you want to go to uni volunteering at a vets would look great on your personal statement. You would also learn lots that will be relevant for future too.

However slimbridge (I guess the wetlands is slimbridge?) sounds great if it pays well.

You could also do some odd jobs such as dog walking, cleaning tack etc so you are not tied down to set hours, much more flexible.

Good on you though for wanting to get some experience and earn a wage
