A few years ago we purchased an i joyride. (For the life of me I can't remember why exactly, but it must have seemed like a good idea at the time:rolleyes:)

Needless to say it was barely used and has been languishing in the dining room aka junk room ever since.

Recently my daughter who is carrying an injury at the minute preventing her from riding has expressed an interest in buying an Anky free rider to try and regain riding fitness. Now to me on paper well online really they seem to be one and the same.

One fault I always felt the i joyride had was it was too low meaning you are in effect putting a lot of weight on the floor and can't get your legs into a correct riding position this may be because my daughter is fairly tall at 5'9"

My daughter is telling me the Anky one purely by virtue of the fact that it is newer must be superior. Also a friend of hers at Uni apparently has one at home and says it works the thighs as well as the core muscles. ( but the friend is very short!) I was hoping to see one at Badminton so we could try it but if there was one there we must have missed it.

So basically I am after views good or bad from anyone who owns either or has tried them. Thanks.

I bought an iJoy off EBay to help me get back into riding after a hip replacement. To make me stretch more 'mounting' and 'dismounting' we raised it up on four Argos books to make it higher.

If you do a search on the BD Forum you will find a few threads about this. Might be helpful to read before you decide to spend any money on one

Thanks I'll pop over to BD and take a look hadn't thought of looking there. I had wondered about just making it higher by putting bricks or something under it but hadn't fancied them on the carpet. Guess i could go to Argos ;)

Whilst the Anky Rider is great, beware! On the 10 minute programme, it exercises your body twice as much in one direction as the other. I have asked the retailer, the importer, manufacturer and Ms van Grunsven to give me a scientific reason why this should be a good idea? The last communication from Ms van Grusven's office stated "There's no conclusion to this. We can't help you, I'm afraid." Personally, I have no axe to grind as both machines which I returned were fully refunded.
