I'm fascinated by all the Anky pad and bandage sets on here - yet they look soooo similar to good old Poly Pads (who my saddler hates with a passion), and just wondering what the difference is...? I mean, obv colour and make, but saddler hated Poly Pads 'cause he said they were hot, too bulky between horse and saddle, pulled on the withers as weren't shaped appropriately... - do the Anky ones avoid all this?

Anky pads are shaped to sit up in the gullet, so off the withers. Although they look think, they aren' that bulky. The top (next to the saddle) is a suede type material so it sticks to the saddle and the underneath (next to the horse) is a coolmax fabric that allows the skin to breath, wicks away sweat and stays dry. They really are fab pads, much nicer than polypads IMO, although I still have lots of polypads!!

When I used to use poly pads I found they slipped under one saddle, but not another. I haven't ever had my Ankys slip (even though I put them under jumping saddles and jump in them sometimes)

The suede on top is great at keeping their position, I have never had them bunch up or move. They are also alot less bulky than the PP. And the coolmax stuff on the bottom really does wick away sweat well. So I would recommend, especially if there was a choice between the two. I really like Poly products (have had the travelling boots and use the roller pads and other things) but IMO the Anky is a better saddle pad...

Now Im going to have to buy one. Ive been looking at them recently online cant decide which colour though. Cant colour co-ordinate to horse as I dont have one currently.
