Does anybody have any annoying or embarresing or frustrating things you have done/forgotten anything like that at a show that you now look back and think that is funny!!?!

I forgot my shirt at Borde Hill last year and I run up the hill - (late already for my dressage!) to go and buy a shirt and they had sold out. And I had a bright green Joules polo shirt on!!! So culdnt even cover that up with my stock!

I had to ask around and in the end had to borrow a shirt off of an elder lady who was wearing a shirt!!! Upsetting and annoying at the time! I now keep spares in the lorry!! But very funny when I think back now!!!

last year at my second BE event it was puring with rain and it was a really long walk to the xc so mum left me at the lorry and went to sit out on course...as it was raining i decided to wear my waterproof ver my bordy protetctor so took off my shoulder pads!!
just as i had waited ages to start i got to the box and realised i didnt have my medical card as it was in the shoulder of my body protector..so i had to canter all the way back down to the lorry park and get someone to hold my horse etc and get me back on!!

i was very embarresed!

Have appeared without number bib at xc start several times, thats always a little embarrassing!
Also managed to forget to take ordinary jacket as well as tail coat to Salperton so had to borrow someone's in the warm up that was waayyyy too big for me, equally embarrassing!!
Normally manage to forget something, it hardly ever runs smoothly

Left my hacking jacket at the dry cleaners before a (Sunday) BE event - realised late on the Sat night and had to borrow one from a friend who is several sizes larger than me.

Looked like Worzel Gummage all day!

Falling of at Scone Palace & landing square on my head, getting concussed. Dr asking me where hurt "hip" replies me "right well if you just bend forward & drop your breeches I'll have a look" says Doc (with audience)

Oh forgot to say they had to stop the course too, just to add insult to injury & concussion

I went to a ODE but was running very late (overdid the Bailey's the night before)! so attempted to run, rather than walk, the xc course. Halfway round my mobile fell out of my pocket and I couldn't find it in the long grass so I had to ask the nearest jump judge to phone it so I could trace it!
On reaching the xc finish I could see my lorry the other side of a 10' high very stout hedge, so decided to take a short cut through it rather than trek round it which would have taken 10 minutes. I called my boyf (it took him a while to realise where I was), lobbed my Jack Russell over said hedge (bystander's faces were a picture) then ran and launched myself at the hedge- when my hands appeared the boyf pulled as hard as he could 'til I emerged the other side, pouring with blood, but heyho!
Then, after the dressage I got boyf to ride ned back to lorry while I ran round the sj course. He used my hat. Unfortunately, whilst inebriated the night before, he was demonstrating his (in)ablility to jump the garden gate instead of opening it and had landed on his head. So when I reclaimed my hat it had a rather large scab in it!
Then to top it all, was in the lead after dressage and sj but got eliminated at the water jump. But we laughed all the way home!

Nic01 made me remember mine....

Local HT poured with rain all day, course running very late. I fall off in woods and break ankle. Had to be lifted on to quad to get out of woods.

Only one paramedic on site - so whole thing had to be held while they took me to hospital (about 1.5 hrs)

Oh...and ambulance had to be towed out of the field

I got drenched at a BE event last year, I mean it poured torrential rain ALL day. My socks and jods ended up dripping and my jods always go brown when wet, it was horrible! I always have a spare set now!

I remember turning up to a show years ago when I was young having forgotten my tack...... and last year at another BE event I realised Id forgotten my XC shirt so had to borrow someone elses top which was annoying as it was totally the wrong colour!

Was jumping round the 15hh HOYS whp track at BSPS summer champs 2005. There had been one clear, he already had his ticket and a few others with 2 poles down and i was one before last to jump! I was approaching the fence before the tripple which was the last jump. It was horrendus weather that week...very wet and windy. I had had 1 pole down and was approaching this fence, not really thinking about it, just thinking about the tripple as it was off a turn and i needed to hit it right to finnish with a pole and hopefully a ticket to hoys!! So...got to the fence before the last....and...got jumped off!!! Totally wrong stride into a style spread! Double leaped in the air, became unseated, hung on, horse spooked at the people standing along the side of the ring so i was half way off one side, then got thrown so far over the other side that i fell off! People were oooing and ahhhing...I wanted to stay on so badly as i really thought i had a chance of a place in the top 2/3 that would get me ticket to HOYS! Sooo frustrating that i couldnt cling on and highly embarrasing that everyone was watching and laughed when i fell off as most of them knew me! Also i got a little round of applause....for the fall and embarrasment, not for getting up!!! Was the longest walk of my life out the ring, then i burst into tears! Was so annoyed with myself for letting the horse down!

OMG!!!

Just remembered one of mine!
On very old jumping pony doing 14WHP at Cheshire County. Myself and Hayden Hankey on Black Watch were the only two clears, so I think I will be well happy with 2nd to them! Only naughty 26 year old pony has other ideas and completely goes mad bouncing, bucking and plunging in the go round. The steward called us over to say that Judge would like us to leave the ring!

. I was very cross with the old witch, so near but so far to RIHS. I did forgive her though. I have never been so embarassed in all my life!

oh god my most most embarassing moment (just cringing thinking of it!) was the second affiliated prelim dressage I ever did on Louis a few yrs back...I forgot the test half way through and got completely confused and the judge was waving her hands around and trying to point back in right direction...I completely lost it and burst into tears in the middle of the arena!!! Loads of people were watching...oh the shame of it! I retired and as I walked past the judge she poked her head out and reassured me that everyone messed up sometimes and suggested someone read my test for me next time! I never ever attempt to do a test without a reader now...even though I tend to learn them all anyway! It was the look of pity from all the spectators as I left the arena...eeek!

I went to the Heathfield show last year it had been pouring down with rain for about the last 2 weeks and as u can imagine the going was hourndess (SP) we were towed in after taking 2 and a half hours to do a 10 min journey up the road when I did eventually get in I realised that I had forgotton my hat (I was only doing an inhand class but I wanted a hat to look good) In the end I had to beg and borrow one I felt such an idiot for forgetting it. I always manage to forget something.

Ermm YES. i was at windsor park for junior bsja a few years ago, i was all ready so i went to get on my pony, as i swang my leg over i head a rip! my white jods had split all the way under my bum!! worst still i had bright pink pants on! as i was running late i didnt have time to buy another pair so jumped in them, luckily my jacket went over my saddle a bit, but i had to make my jumping position very brief!

Not at a show but us DIY people do our horses in the morning, have a quick spruce up (or get changed) and go to work.

One of my fellow liveries forgot one of her shoes..and had a choice between wellies or yard boots to wear with her skirt and blouse. She is a college lecturer too so couldnt hide away.

Inhand show - a hairy yearling on the end of the rope...trotting back towards the judge, he did a ridiculous over-exaggerated leap out of the way, waving his trilby hat; yearling went "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT", leapt ONTO me, I fell over, yearling got loose and started careering round the arena having a jolly time, I burst into tears. Judge placed us last (obviously!) came over me to say "I think that might have been my fault"...I burst into tears again. Oh the shame!

I'm not normally so emotional!

Makes me cringe thinking about it now - was soooooo cross and upset and the time and just try and forget it now!

Was at stilemans BE PN last year and was lying 5th going into the crosscountry, and it was mine and Fiddler's first ever PN so i was so pleased!! Got all the way round the cross country course clear - got the last damn fence...............................................................and go and have a bl**dy stop!!!!!!!

i was sooooooooooo mad with myself

it was THE most embaressing and stupid thing to do - but being inexperienced i guess i just got complacent and he took advantage

ahhh well!!!!!

hmm oh yes i remember- i was in the lead in a bluechip sapphire qualifier once and i forgot the course 2 jumps away from the end!! i turned a circle and remembered then because i was so frustrated i came to fence on such a dumb stride, pony was like wat are u doing stopped and i fell off!

now make an effort to remember courses properly and not get frustrated! cryable at time, but def funny now!!

Back in 1994 (too many years ago now!!) I took my youngster to do the pre-novice at Cleobury Mortimer. He'd only done a couple of events and was still very spooky and scared of everything, especially ditches! Unfortunately I had the worst cold I've ever had and really should have stayed in bed!! However, I'd paid the entry fee and the horse was going really well at home, so we went anyway. The seriously early start (3 am) should have put me off straight away!!! It was also very cold, wet and windy (it was September)!!!

Anyway, the day started badly with me being unable to remember the dressage test!! Showjumping followed (things didn't improve!), as he spooked going into the double (too many scary monsters to distract him) and stopped (green mistake really), came round again and although we got through it, had both parts down. He did jump the rest of the course very nicely though.

At this point, I should have called it a day and gone home, but it was a lovely educational course with a few questions(although there were a couple of fences that really should have been in the Novice instead), so I made the decision to go XC. We started off well until we got to a rather large pallisade with a big ditch in front. Now there were some very scary monsters in the ditch, so Seam decided that he wasn't really that keen, and he thought it was far better for me to get a closer look at the ditch and make sure it was safe - yes you're guessed it, I landed in the flipping ditch. Horse promptly cleared off back to the start of the course!! The course officials gave me a lift back in the landrover to collect the horse and then we carried on!! He did jump the rest of the course clear and he learned so much from it - although I have a lovely picture of us clearing the last fence by about 2 feet, as it was another scary ditch! I'm still not sure which of us looked more worried, when I look back at the photo!!

Moral of story, never go eventing when you have the cold from hell - stay in bed instead!! On a more postive note, we went back the following year and had a fantastic day in all three phases. I had one of my nicest rides XC ever and got placed.

where oh where to start!!!!

Well there was the PC ODE event with Dan. (his first and last may I add!!) Was in top few after dressage and clear after SJ so was about 3rd I think then came the XC. Please note by this point I had on several occasions over tannoy been pointed out as being a member of the Jersey Drag Hunt so a few more people than normal were watching as they all thought I had travelled a VERY long way to compete (try 20mins as was whilst at uni
wink.gif
). Well lets just say the XC didn't go that well and although slightly embarressing I was actually laughing about 5 secs in all the way round and I suspect the jump judges (well the ones I got as far as) thought I was positively crazy. Dan just doesn't 'do' XC as he is the biggest wimp on the planet and decided he could only jump the 2ft fences (please note this is same horse as in avatar and the same year in fact) well actually he would only go within 20 feet of the fences on at least the third 'run up'.

Other ones include forgetting my bridle at a dressage competition and stealing sorry borrowing a friends whilst my mum rushed home to get mine (20 mins away) for her to get back with it as I came out of the arena!!!

Also August 05 at Bicton in the Novice derby rode a friends horse which was being a s**t, had it going very forward all seemed good when it jumped fence 1 straight line to fence two and it shoved on brakes at last second. result = me round neck, I haul myself back on to round of applause (to those who have seen derbies at bicton they draw a crowd!) and come for another try, no way it was stopping again which errr well it didn't though it did think about it. It catlept about 15 foot in the air (90cm jump by the way!) at this point i discovered my stirrups had slipped back along stirrup bars when he stopped. Result was both stirrups fly off saddle and I go with them finishing flat on my back. I got straight up picked up the stirrups and ran the entire length of the arena after the horse back to the entrance. again getting another round of applause when I got up! Very embarressing but couldn't do anything but laugh. Unfortunetly did put back out at same time but didn't feel that till a few days later !!

Mine still makes me cringe LOL

It was a 2/3 day fixture in Sotogrande as part of one of the first Sunshine Tour events - last day and the morning after the night before (which was the competitors party) - I am hung over and had had about 3 hours sleep when the course for the 1-25m final opened - in fact there is a pic of me with can of coke in hand walking that the pro photographer (who was also my old boss) took and I look V dodgy and green! Anyway was standing in the middle of a HUGE oxer (my words were *FFS I could park my Range Rover in between here*) when I hear "Luisa" being called - I look up, couldnt see anyone obvious and carry on walking - again "LUUUUUUUUUUUUISA, Amazona", drag eyes upwards again and see Luis Cervera almost running towards me pointing at my feet - in my haze I could NOT understand what on earth he was going on about - he takes hold of me and in Spanish says "Get out of the ring now, quickly, before anyone notices" cue me looking really vacant LOL! Anyway, as it was FEI rules, all riders were under rules to walk the course in their boots, and I was in trainers as I had blisters from dancing the night before
blush.gif
The guy who was the organiser and the commentator was a dear friend of mine and decides to unleash my total humiliation over the tannoy!!! Luckily the FEI peeps were in hysterics too and I got away with it but if it wasnt for Luis I would never have even known!!!

I was at a pony club hunter a few years back and I had been asked to ride a friends horse as she was ill, he flew round the first half of the course foot perfect ,and then all of a sudden he slipt and I went flying .The worst part was I was miles away from the start and there was only one fence near me. I tried to get back on,but Bertie was 15.3 (which at the time seemed very big) and I couldn't get back on, the fence judge came but it was a very frail old lady and so I daren't ask her for a leg up. In the end she radioed to the commentor for someone to give a leg up and it was announced out over the tanoy
