I bought some original air cooled eventing boots for my 16.3 KWPN x ISH gelding with my hard earned cash! They werent expensive as lovely new boots go but they were enough to make me save for a few weeks!!

I love the design of the boots and they certaonly look fine when I put them on but they just wont stay put! He is well into a full size for the other boots that I have for him (shires, new and woof) so bought full size as per the sizing on the page. I put them on and strap them up as firmly as I can, with the back of the leg in the tendon groove bit but everytime I wear them they twist so that the groove part ends up on the side which I cant believe is very comfy. I have persevered thinking I had already put them on once so would not be returnable and that maybe they just need a few outings to get used to the shape of his leg but it just hasnt helped.

Has anyone else had this issue? I cant believe that the boots are too big for my massive WB but I just cant use them at the moment really- I went on a fun ride yesterday and had to get off twice to put them back and then at the end they were still twisted.

I have emailed PE so will be interesting to see if they get back to me!! gggrrrr:(

I have 2 sets and use them on different horses, they never move, I would think yours are too big, PE are really helpful, if they dont respond to your email phone them.

I have absolutely no problems with mine and love them :). If the velcro is as tight as it has room for and still swivelling then perhaps they are too big? Large is advised for 16.3hh-17.2hh so your lad would just be on the boundary of the big size so could well be that they are too big.

That said, I do think some boots just don't suit some horses :( I bought a set of prolites for my mare after hearing great reviews about them on here, and tried two different sizes for the hinds but they still swivelled almost instantly after starting trot work, they just didn't suit her. However her PE ones which I bought after giving up with prolites have been thoroughly tested team chasing and eventing and haven't budged at all :). So I guess the difficulty is that you will have to decide if you think it is a sizing issue, or if the boots just don't suit and to try a different make. I do feel for you, know from experience its an expensive game! :o

I have some and have tried them on 3 horses (all very different shapes) - absolutely hate them  They spin, slip and rub. Would never buy another set.

In fairness, PE were very good and offered to replace or refund - no complaints about their customer service at all.

Mine fit perfectly but two of the air vents have now fallen out and they are looking rather shabby, only been used 11 times. Just waiting until Pulbrough and then I will be buying a different brand of XC boot for next season.

I love all of the PE stuff, just the boots have not stood up to going xc on my boy!

Interesting- guess like everything they just dont suit certain shaped horses maybe? I really dont think that he would be a medium though, he is a 16.3 WB who may be more like 17hh if I actually measured him, he also has a fair amount of bone- not like a tall TB who I can see may not fit the large size.

Well I have been impressed so far by their customer service- they got straight back to me and told me who to contact so shall see what they say now- thanks for the replies!

I hate all PE stuff, have the boots too, crap move about too much and back ones fall off as not secure enough

I have had there rugs, crap too, every one i had the buckles broke, they get wet they turn into a ten tonn wet mess.

Wont touch none of there stuff now.

Though i must say Customer Service is good, i bought a set of the event hind boots, wore them to the beach in the sea, came out and one boot was missing, seen it floating off out to sea - i was raging as had just bought them, rang up to complain and although they did say they were not designed for the sea :-) - they sent me a new set in good will, so cant fault them there.

I love their rugs (I must have about 25, for different horses) and I have one set of boots, which have been fab....they must be a few years old now too.

Their customer service is amazing, so I'm sure they'll sort you out :)

I have a set of these in medium for my boy, he is a 16.3 TB (he is a chunky TB aswell!) normally full size in everything else, sometimes XF!

Maybe you should have got the smaller size? I must admit, we were all shocked at the sizing. These were bought for another horse on the yard and were too big - 16.1 Cob x TB!!

I'm selling mine anyway as I don't use them, if anyones interested??

I've got a 16.2hh TB who wears cob/med in every boot apart from these.
When I tried the medium they span & slipped & were useless. PE exchanged them for Small & now they are brilliant boots & wouldn't put anything else on my horse :)

I guess thats my point then....it would seem as tho the boots are just too big from all the replies but why would I not buy the large? My horse is a good 16.3 with a fair amount of bone....he fits into the PE sizing for large and does not wear cob sized anything (umm well part from the tendon boots that I did make him wear when I first had him which were NEW cob sized and made him look like he was sporting some sort of anklet!)....without being a mindreader I would never describe him as a 16.2- maybe they need to change their size descriptors?

Anyway their sales team are still being uber helpful so I cannot critise the PE customer service at all!! :)
