My horse has had a slight swelling on both the inside and outside of he fetlock, just above the ergot on her hind leg for a few weeks now but it seemed to go down, she has come in this morning and its pretty big(ie you can see it without looking for it). It is also at the back of her fetlock.
It is in between hard, not solid but not easy to push in and it doesn't desperse if you push it, if that makes sense! There isn't any heat and she doesn't seem lame however she is finding it harder to engage that hind leg than the other one- might be laziness but might be connected.
It looks like a big windgall that goes all round the fetlock and I am concerned its a ligament strain.
Any ideas.
Should I rest her? There is a vet on the yard this week so might get them to have a quick look.
I have bandaged her.
