Im after a 3.5ton.

must be in good nick, have mot. would prefure side unload but not a huge issue as my lad is only 14.2 i can change inside to herringbone.

any thing pretty much considered but im struggling to find any thing..

What I dont want is a manky looking old rust bucket.

budget is around 3k but can go up and down MUST be in the devon area or borders of cornwall/dorset/somerset

... went to look at one today and thank god I took a mechanic with me! not only was there something really fishy going on, but the lorry was 20k miles higher than i was told and thats before we go on to all the other little things grrrr Damn timewasters.

lol i said around 3k, I Dont mind old so long as its in good nick.

the one i went to look at today was on an s reg tranny body but very high milage and had lots of small things wrong ..

Will have a look. :)

When I was looking to buy one I went to see an R-Reg, up for 6k. I wouldn't have put my horse in it if you paid me. Ended up paying significantly more for an 04 plate.

unfortunatly I dont have to much avalible money, Id very much like something newer. i keep seeing things on ebay but they are jsut to far to go and have a look

I dont want to sound patronising but 3k will only get you a load of trouble and end up costing you.

this is why im being very careful and have a very good mechanic to hand.
there is a possibilty that for the right prices id buy a newer base with a crap body and a crap base with a newer body and swap them over..

Agree you might struggle at 3k. We will be advertising a lovely box in very good nick, but on an N plate & will be asking & (expecting to get) more than that for it. Good luck. Will keep an eye out on adverts.

as i said LW I can go higher, but would rather not unless its something very good.

I dont mind old and tatty so long as its safe all round.

actully thats a complete lie.. i do mind but ive had to give up a lot to be able to be in a position to be able to buy a new horse, pass driving test and purchase lorry.. I keep looking at nice shiney ones and thinking.. um small loan.. but no no no...

We have an S reg diesel ford transit horse box which we will be selling shortly but its not quite finished yet, its herringboned, we didnt actually realise how much they are fetching, it is being fully refurbished inside and out and we were going to put that up for 2500 and will have a full MOT and 6 months tax.

Might rethink the price according to this thread!!!

You should be able to find something. After a longish search we found a nice R reg Renault Master van converted by marlborough earlier this year for just over your budget. We had it checked over by the AA before purchase. It did need a new floor and a few other things doing to it (new radiator, cam belt and service springs to mind) adding about an extra £400 to the overall price but apart from that it’s been great. Very reliable little box and they all travel well in it. You may need to consider travelling further afield though. Ours was 200 miles away!

yep i dont mind things like that, it just needs to be overal sound and have a decent engine! id thought about cam belt and thought for the age im likely to get id just get it replaced .. unless there was concreat evidence that it had been done.
again, a floor isnt a major thing.

the one i saw to day on the hinge that connects ramp to body it was rotten .. so rotten it had holes in  my friend and I agreed it would be a fairley large job to get it re done, thats before we start on the popping out windscreen, if handbreak etc.

the first one ive come across, im not keen on it, ive got a bad loader and can see me having issues with that. (although this is one of the reasons im looking to buy now i can work on his issues over the winter.)

have contacted now and asked for more pics of the second one.
