The issue of me being able to transport my horses has recently reared its head again and whilst I can do nothing for my immediate situation I am determined that 2012 will be the year I do something about it.

At the moment I hold a B license and drive a tiny 106. I am trying to decide whether or not to just go ahead and do a 7.5 tonne test (a C1 test?). If i do that will that entitle me to tow a trailer as well as drive a lorry? (not at same time) or would I still have to take an additional test to do that? If I don't take the C1 then I would do the B+E test but that would involve a change of car.
I have always had a preference for travelling my horses in a lorry rather than a trailer as they seem happier in it. Also does anyone have any idea about cost have had a quick look online but just ended up getting more confused!

Passing the C1 or C test will not have any effect on towing
To improve towing capabilities you need to pass a +E test

You mentioned horses - plural - so that means more than one
You will not get a set up for B licence towing which allows for more than one horse

Your choice now - go for C1 or C lorry test and keep little 106
OR
Go for B+E and either get another towing vehicle or change 106 for a bigger towing vehicle

LGV needs periodic medicals to keep it valid and involves theory tests etc
B+E is just the test - nothing more - for life

For anybody wondering ... the PUG 106 only has a towing capacity between 650 and 750 kgs !!
