well we were always in for a long day today as poor Georgie had nearly 8 hours between her tests!! Her owner rode her in the prelim at 9.46 and she did a very nice test,accurate and active but not always quite round enough. She got 65% and finished 8th which she was really pleased with although she was one of the horses with a large difference in the scores the 2 judges gave (one had her as the overall winner!!).

My time in the Novice Open was originally 5.26 but I managed to move it up to 4.08 and she did a really good test. We had to wait for ages for the scores and then when they went to write it up it was only 61%. I knew it had to be wrong and sure enough it was and she actually got 64.1%. I was still a bit disappointed as I felt it was nearer a 67/68% test but she finished 4th and has qualified for the next round.

I then had to rush off after the prize giving to get on Huddson who was doing the Medium Open at 6.46. There weren't many horses doing the medium and only 2 of us that are open so they ran it as one class with 2 results.

Well we weren't even sure weather we were going to take Hud as he seems to have some sort of a problem occuring in his mouth and I've had to ride him in a hackamore for the last 2 weeks. We decided at the last moment to take him and to just try and nurse him round.

He was a complete star, fairly relaxed in the contact and I just rode a very safe if slightly under-powered test. It did the trick and he came out the winner (despite the stupid rider forgetting where the extended walk should go)!!

I'm so pleased with him and have withdrawn him from the Advanced Medium tomorrow. It's one thing to nurse your way through a medium but the advanced medium 86 is a horrible test at the best of times and until we've found out exactly what the problem is it's not fair to push him.

So both gee gees qualified for Hartpury which made the very long day worth it. It seems there's going to be quite a few HHOers at the finals next year.

Well done, makes the long day well worth it. Must have seen your test then as it got moved, but sorry can't remember much of how the horse went.

I think we had better not say much about the judging today, but at least ur score went up unlike mine that went down.

I thought you only qualified for the next round if your were 1st or 2nd (sorry, I am very new to all of this

)

Well done, it sounds as though you had a great day!

The qualifying has changed this year at Prelim and Novice. Its now the top 4 that go through. There will then be a second round consisting of about 60 horses and the top 30 of those will go through to the final.

Elementary and above remains as before with the top 2 going straight to the final.

I may well take Hud to Patchetts to do the Advanced Medium there.

I'm also judging there as well but don't know what class yet!!

Hiya Jane!!
