I am looking for a complete balancer to feed my 17 yr old Irish draught X, mainly hacking and light schooling at the moment but will be fittening him up over the summer in view of hunting a few times over the winter (he has had 2 years in very light work on loan). He is a good doer, turned out on grazing whether permitting and ad lib hay.

I am looking for something to feed alongside Hi fi lite to support his coat and general condition as well as his joints. I have been looking at baileys Lo Cal, spillers lite, Saracens essential and also equlibria 500 with omega 3 but open to other recommendations. He is very well behaved nothing much affects him however would preferably prefer something that is non heating. He also has turmeric (with b/pepper and oil) supplement.

Any advise great fully received 😬

As your horse is on a forage-based diet I would look at the mineral supplements that are formulated for that.

Some good ones are made by ForagePlus and Progressive Earth amongst others. With supplements it's not only the actual ingredients that are important but the ratios between them too.

Mine wouldn't touch Spillers Lite for some reason (very strange as I thought it smelled quite nice!).

I have used Lo Cal for my 3 welshies for about 4 years now and I highly recommend it. They all have lovely shiny coats and rock crunching feet. :)

If you'd rather use a supplement I can highly recommend Equimmins Advance complete. Amazing stuff!
