My boy is still quite young and getting used to schooling (reluctantly).

He snatches at the bit and brings his head down. He is constantly playing with it. I am going to try him in a flash, but also think the problem lies in the bit. (unless he just hates schooling! but also does it on a hack)

I ride him in a french link loose ring snaffle. I have a happy mouth straight bar loose ring somewhere. Do you think I should try him in this?

Any advice welcome.

(no problem with brakes or laterals, just this snatching and bearing down) Thank you

generally speaking the loose rings are better for preventing hanging on the bit, try the straight bar and see if he's better with that, i have a loose ring lozenge bit and my youngster seems to school well in that, look on shop4bits.co.uk as they let you try before you buy so you could try some different ones.

I should add, his back, teeth and saddle are all fine. They are checked regularly. He is also very willing to learn and do, so I don't think it is his general behaviour, I think it is general discomfort.
