I have my TB mare in a happy mouth with peanut roller, dutch gag at the moment.

Now I suspect she doesn't need the dutch gag so would be looking to ditch that.

But I'm not convinced she's happy in the mouth piece either!!

I don't seem to have brake issues and she feels very light in the mouth.

She just never leaves the bit alone and is constantly chewing at it when you have contact.

Although she is a big TB, 17hh, she's very fine in the face and mouth.

She's not done much riding, raced and then a brood mare then a little light riding and then a year off.

Bringing back into work now with a view to doing racehorse to riding horse classes.

So any ideas what bit to use????

Choccies or wine if you got this far.

a friend of mine has a horse that chomps the bit. She wraps it in vet wrap injected with honey in the show ring to keep him from doing it

My mare came to me in a Happy Mouth but she used to chew that terribly. When I was going through a bit a month (and she made the edges very sharp) I changed to metal. Had her in a Myler to begin with which was quite a nice thin mouthpiece (she doesn't have much space in her mouth) and she's now happy in a Neue Schule Verbindend.

Not much help I realise but sometimes it's worth trying metal even though we're always told rubber/plastic is softer. My mare certainly seemed happier in her mouth.

My TBx is in a loose ring myler comfort snaffle and really likes it , although we done a lot of testing with other bits before we found this that suits him. Maybe trying a bit bank would be a good idea. I'm sure if you called them they could give you advise on what may be suitable.

Mine did the same in a happy mouth, made the bit really sharp where she was constantly chewing on it, she is now in a sweet iron and much much happier and does not chomp or chew!
