Ok so I am trying to figure out what bit to put madam in for some XC etc...she is currently in a KK snaffle for schooling/SJ but will def need somthing slighltly stronger for XC - it needs to something that doesn't encourage her to duck behind the bit as that wil obv make it easier for her to tuck her nose in and spin/drop her shoulder..

Any ideas?

She is just in a cavasson (sp?) - doesnt take well to flashes and doesnt like a tight nose band either....
Her previous owner took her XC in a similar bit to what she is in now and said 'oh yes def need somthing with a bit more stopping power' lol

Tom thumb (NS / Dewsbury jumper) or running gag

Continental / Dutch / bubble gags, pelhams, american gag are all going to encourage the overbent ducking.

Nope for some weird reason you can keep the head up with a tom thumb / jumper. I use it on mine who did tend to 'duck' before fences

A true running gag lifts the head, so is the best for a horse that really throws its head down.
