There was a pony in another part of the country..7 year old gelding, hoping not the case that this would be a third although there has been talk of animals and also black cats as well as the human torturing...sincerely hope to God it is more natural than the latter. Keep us updated if you find out/areas etc. When my two colts were at my last place, someone was caught in the field by the vicar next door at midnight..they had the nerve to try come back an hour later but luckily his daughter awoke that time & lets just say judging by the marks in the field, some heavy strange shaped metal object had been brought in with them (impression in ground) although they obviously & thankfully got alot more than they were bargaining for judging by the marks my horses made!Lets just say I hope it bloody hurt them. I slept in my truck for a few nights in the field I was so distraught then I moved them to current yard. Police actually were excellent as I had trouble with my other 4 at the same time, had to move them overnight as 3 were plaited & one had a strange triangle shape clipped into his fur (and he was rugged) luckily I checked him when i found him unsettled in melt down mode-pretty much in his usual purple monster reaction to clippers if not approached 'his' way... a few days before i had been warned of some 2women & young teens spotted looking over each of them and taking pictures...then this happened and then a man approached me asking if they were valuable...he wasn't local and looked JUST like your stereotypical rustler/dealer (no offence to law abiding dealers, there are some genuine ones xx)scared the life out of me all this over a few days with my horses spread out at 2 yards 11 miles appart...never again!I would always (IMHO) think secure & try make your horses as un accessible/difficult to get to as possible if there are evil people out there they will always acheive what they set out to, but making it harder for them DOES buy you /your horse time...even if only seconds to get away/be noticed/or most ideally evil person maimed & electrocuted on all the traps you set on the boundary!...if only.. :)

As far as Im aware there was the stallion in Cornwall and a pony in Wales.

Yes. The pony in Wales has been dismissed by police as having died of natural causes and later scavenged by wild animals. He was a chesnut gelding.

The one in Cornwall is still an ongoing case as far as I know.

^ The thread where it was discussed. Has links to news reports. :)

I still don't understand how scavengers could do so much damage, considering the weather has been mild and there is not a shortage of food. But hey-ho. Apparently the cuts on the belly were 'inconclusive'. If they'd been done by a maniac weilding a knife they would have been fairly clean cut and obvious to the police so I guess that's that's the closest we'll ever get to an answer. Feel sorry for the owner though.

This has also just been posted on a friesian page on facebook, sad times

Facebook is not a credible news site. Anything posted on there should be taken with a pinch of salt until it is announced by a legitimate news site.

My sister found a sheep that was still alive and the ravens had pecked out its eyes. Poor thing. That was in Wales.

I've heard tales about crows waiting for lambs to be born and then attacking them and plucking their eyes out.

Apparently the Welsh pony could have been dead or dying for 24 hours before the owner found it. It's the whole belly ripping thing that gets to me. I didn't know we had any animals capable of that much damage in the UK.

There's murder victims who have been left in woodland etc for days on end before being discovered. As far as I know, there's never been any that have been reported to have been ripped open by badgers and foxes. I think if I was the owner I'd be asking the vet to do a postmortum.

OH went shooting last week and walked a field of sheep, all sheep accounted for the previous evening but he found a dead one the next morning, insides not there, verious other bits eaten. Scavengers can do a fair bit of damage overnight.

This was the one reported last week. Acording to the OP there's been a new attack reported on FB. This new attack is the one I said may have been a hoax because it's not been picked up by any credible news sources. And we all know that FB is trolled by bored teenagers.
