The new horse is undergoing treatment for 3 sarcoids with blood root ointment. He arrived on Tuesday and my own pot of bloodroot only arrived 2 days ago. The previous owner was applying it in 7 day intensive blocks - twice a day, rest for a week as advised by the vet.

Sorry if these questions are a bit vague, i've never used blood root ointment before. I do have the vet coming next week for his jabs but was just wondering what experiences everyone else had.

My question is, when do you stop applying it?

The one behind his ear is now smooth - hairless and has not had anything other than green oils applied by myself as the 'dry skin' rubbed off easily while I was grooming him. I am assuming this needs no more treatment and so the green oils is for soothing it more than anything else.

The one on his neck has all but gone apart from a small nodule in the centre. Do i carry on applying until this last nodule has gone? I have applied twice now and it is not sore yet and never did look sore when I viewed him prior to purchasing

The one between his back legs was banded and has now dropped off but still looks 'sarcoidy' under where the band was. Do I carry on applying the cream? Old owner was applying to the stork area only and said after it dropped off to carry on applying until it all disappears. This one is obviously inflamed and sore for him, although he is being fairly good about it being treated, so far. I expect this will change in a few days when he knows what is coming

Thanks in advance for any help on this.
