Got a coffee and biccies here we go
After spending the week leading up to championships on phone/emailing HQ trying to sort out their timing mess up. The weather was really my last on list, perhaps it should have been first!!!!
We arrived at 11.30 on show ground at it was already very wet and first attempt to park on grass we almost got stuck but clever driving from mate and we recovered to a DRIER spot!!. Got passport checked what a joke , we didnt have to present gg with passport, just paperwork. So in theory we could have had any old nags on board!!. Stable boxes were fine and even with weather they did hold up to weather so that was a very good plus.
Once our gg were settled popped off to do help and ended up helping build sj course, lovely course and very well build, but were doing this in major rain storm!!! And lucky course builds wanted lunch and said wed finish, thank god as need new dry clothes!!!.
By now most other team members where turning up with various different approach to horses passport situation. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
After a wet night Saturday arrived, spent morning helping with style team, and they did very well - 12th. Our RR C de E turned up and said that the weather she had just driven though was worst shed ever experienced so we all started praying it would hold off before our test. Everyone turned up at warm up all booted and suited, so we could warm up for test. Warm up went well with no major issues so then we presented the team for our test. As we rode around outside of arena, the arena was already trashed and looking like a ploughed field!!! So before test we all smiled at judges and I couldnt resist saying to judge Good job were all from Good Farming Stock!!!
as you could either cry at arena or laugh!! And I defo choose latter.
Bell rang and off the test started, amazingly the ground conditions really help us and keep the pace even and our spacing was prefect!!! You just couldnt really get the full medium pace but the team did it best test all year, with only one minor hiccup, mine decided to hump into canter but I shut him up very quickly and slotted back into ride within 2 strides (with me thinking OOOOOOOOOOOO sh1t, glad I applied my super glue). After test I was so chuffed with team, as there were only two very minor errors throughout the 12min test and it was our best test by far and from a personnel point of view I felt it was better that last year.
Next watched our first pair team and they did foot perfect pairs test and then we followed, we had beautiful trot work but canter work was a let down!
airs above ground NOT a required element! But conditions nor timings had not worked in our favour, but hay thats life or dressage!!!
Then to normal wait for results, in end we were 6th in RR, very, very disappointed with result
as C judge had us 2nd
but side judge didnt like us
!!! But at least that judge was constantly harsh!
But our first pairs were 4th
an amazing result and we were 13th
.
Picked up rossies and made dash for stables to load and TRIED to disappear. Then it was horrific to get off site with only two tractor working and them trying to get Juniors on and Senior off it was a totally nightmare plus it was very dangerous as people were flooring and slipping and sliding around between horses, riders and tents!!!
CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
Got back to Gloucestershire at 11pm ish, after a long weekend with lots of positives.
OOOOOOOOOOOO bit long sorry and hopefully i should have some images some from my very fabby groom/helper/friend and all rounder super star GINN
