He sits for ages like this! I’m not supporting him, I *think it’s to have his chest or back scratched. He also does it balanced on the back of the sofa to look out a higher window ?
He has exeptional balance and can do it for a weirdly long time. He also stands up in his hind legs for too long to be quite normal to look over high grass ??
I’m going to try and teach him to do it on command as a part trick.

We had a jrt x heeler when I was little who'd do that for ages if he wanted to see out of a window that he couldn't sit by or when he wanted feeding or a walk he'd do it in front of the telly so we couldn't ignore him.

I remember once at my grans caravan, mum and dad had gone to the pub. He sat up like that on a stool watching for them until he fell asleep and fell off, then got back on and carried on as thought nothing had happened. He was a character ?

The terrier we had as kids could be found in the kitchen sometimes sitting begging like that if there was food left on the work surface. He would also do it if asked. Only one of my collies has been able to and that is my older girl Jesse.

My aunt has two JRTs who do this, both on command or any time they want attention. One is especially good at it and can also bob her front legs up and down at the same time to do “horsey”.
