If you had a bay horse like PF (below)

.. who gets very sunbleached and you were going to use a colour-enhancing shampoo...

Give her some paprika. It's supposed to stop bleaching (you need you use if before the coat bleaches.)

I think I'd go with brown. What brand are you using? Does it say on the bottle which is best for what colour?

can you not put a special rug on her to stop the bleaching.

It's soooooooooooo hot here at the moment though. I could just tie her under a tree, but that seems a bit harsh. I COULD make a lightweight rug from the sacks the oats come in but I'd rather find another solution

Can they not be stabled during the heat of the day and in their pens at night? The only true way to prevent bleaching is to minimise the time in the sun after all.

That would be very sensible BUT most pens are swamped at the mo due to very, very heavy rain. Also if I didn't use the blinking stable someone would try to claim it. However, I will be popping missus in a pen with proper shade as soon as she doesn't have to tread water!

And I'll have a go at making a rug with the white oat sacks (they're very light, so that might work)

I'm sure you could find a UV repellant rug on ebay that PINK - or at least white so you could die it - then your mission would be accomplished!

In fact - this is what you need

I wouldnt bother!! But I would feed black sunflower seeds which are ment to help dark horses retain their dark colour in the sun!!

Also give a fantastic coat and feet, my girl is on them despite being grey
