Can't find the original post on this subject - so can anyone clarify the difference between Equine America's Cortaflex sold in the UK and Corta-flx which is sold in the USA. The packaging looks the same but I can't find an ingredients list on the USA version. Someone mentioned that the USA version has prohibited (by the FEI) substances in it, does anyone know what they are?
Thanks

I do not know what the ingredients are exactly but I work in a feed merchants and we had to contact our equine america rep about this same subject the other day as a customer came in asking the same question.
The US versions of any Equine America products are not licensed for use in the UK due to the ingredients. I believe it is to do with the fact that the USA versions contain animal by-products (correct me if I am wrong) which are not allowed here in the UK... In addition, a lot of ingredients are not allowed under jockey club rules and therefore most comptetion rules here in the UK which are allowed in America. For instance, the US has an Equine America version of Valerian and this is in fact included in their So-Kalm As most people will know, valerian is not allowed to be used on competing horses here in the UK.

I hope this is of some help.

I also contacted them directly and was told that the American version was not legal under affiliated rules over here. I.e if get tested (which did happen to a friend at Novice BE last year) you could well be found with prohibited substances.

They also claimed the American version was actually 3 times weaker than the UK version hence the price difference. I certainly wouldn't take the risk using it for competition horses.
