OK I have seen the DIY posts & I have posted 1 myself recently it seems to be that time of year - where people are trying to take advantage of others :( but what about yard tools if you are DIY do you have your own or do you expect to use the yard tools ??

ive just moved to a DIY yard and bought all my own tools but it depends on what the yard rules are. TBH, I wouldn't mind if others used my tools, as long as its returned to where they found it, in the condition they found it in.

I have been on a diy livery for the past 14 years, we all have our own wheelbarrows and other tools. Unless it specifically states that they have yard tools for everyone just take your own. We have a great bunch at our stables and we all try to help each other out when it is needed, but we never take each other for granted as yes people do hate it if you use equipment without permission, normally because it's put back in the wrong place - dirty - or vanishes completely.

I have all my own tools marked with coloured tape round the handles. Occasionally things go astray but fairly good most of the time. I think most people on my yard like using their own tools, we all do thing slightly differently so all tend to use different tools. Don't mind people borrowing things just as long as they clean it afterwards and put it back in my area afterwards. Fortunately, a very friendly yard where we all respect each others hard earned items.

All yards I've been on has shared tools but I prefer to have my own. Much easier I generally don't mind people using my stuff but it is irritating when I go to muck out and someone is using my shavings fork. :0P

I've always had my own tools, but when moved to new yard they had their own barrows so used them and my own tools and left my old one at the old yard (had meant to pick up. At new yard I was (and still am) going to get my own barrow, but next door neighbour said I could use his. However not sure his wife feels the same :D There is another one that hasn't been touched once since moving to new yard as had a very flat tyre. I know OH pumped it up and used that today, but as I do if I have borrowed something it has been cleaned before putting back.

I don't mind if others use my things, if they get put back and if they are broken are replaced or I am at least told about!

I use my own tools, so much easier. However have been down and find that others have used my tools, have found them in stables, left on yard, with the RS tools. I only lend them out if I know I'm going to get them back.
