Last Saturday I won a saddle in an Ebay auction, great I thought it should be here by this weekend! I have a friend that wants to buy my current saddle asap as her's is giving her horse a sore back and mine fits perfectly (Brill as need money towards new one!) but obviously I'm not going to part with mine till new one turns up. Said Saddle has still not arrived, I have had one email from the seller saying that she was going to send it out on Thurs and would let me know when she had. Since then I haven't heard a thing! I have tried emailing her again and she hasn't responded. So now I don't know what's going on. I sell the occasional thing on ebay and I'm always really concious of the other person waiting for it so I send items as quickly as I can and I always pay immediatley so why don't others do the same. I'm now starting to thnk that she won't send it out and I'll have to go through the rigmorol of having to get my £300 back. Sorry rant over lol!

I know exactly what you mean. It's really frustrating when you are waiting for something like that. However, you can request her details from ebay because you have bought something from her and there should be a current phone number for her that you can ring.

Remember a saddle is a large, delicate and bulky thing to send. Assuming she (seller) has sent it via a Royal Mail parcel service, it could take up to 3 to 5 WORKING days to be delivered to you.

Unless it was sent by next day courier or an expediated Royal Mail service (unlikely, as prohibitively expensive one would assume) I wouldn't have expected a saddle sent Thursday to arrive until the following week sometime. Even if it was sent by courier, most don't offer a Saturday delivery as part of their normal service.

Hang on in there... I'm sure you checked the seller's feedback before you bought the saddle from her, so I'm sure it'll be on its way but will just take a bit longer than 'normal' small item post does. :)

Tbh I'm not so worried that it hasn't arrived, more that she hasn't replied to my email asking if she'd sent it yet. Her feedback as a buyer was 100% but this was the first thing she'd sold! I wasn't put off as I like to think that most people are genuine and we all have to start somewhere where feedback is concerned. I just hope that my instincts haven't let me down!

Aaaah, well in that case - if it's their first sale transaction... that could present a problem. Only inasmuch that they (a new seller) may not be aware that PayPal will retain the payment you sent for the saddle and its P&P costs, until after you (the buyer) have received the saddle and left the seller positive feedback.

This often comes as a big shock to people. After all, who wants to find out they are expected to cough up to send their expensive saddle off into the great unknown (that is Royal Mail's system) without having received any form of payment yet? Even though you have paid, and PayPal have your funds held on behalf of the seller, it still means the seller will be left seriously out of pocket for anything up-to 30 days after dispatching the saddle.

If you are communicating with the seller via the eBay Messaging system, perhaps try an alternative method (in case she's not logging in and accessing her eBay messages). Your PayPal account should show the email address to which your payment was credited. Try emailing directly to that address. Just in case.

If you still haven't heard anything back from the seller, or received the saddle, by the end of next week.... I'd log into PayPal and raise a 'Resolution' case querying non reciept and lack of comms. That usually works!

Good luck :)

I've never had any funds held by Paypal despite selling some really expensive things, the funds have always been release straight away - even though I always aim to post the following day at the latest

It's something fairly recently introduced by eBay/PayPal and only affects eBay sellers who have a limited number of positive feedback transaction for selling items on their account. I don't believe it affects all items sold by new eBay sellers, just items sold over a certain value or fall within specific categories. Saddles are one item affected though, I know for sure. I don't know the ins and out of it all, as I have 4500+ feedback now and have been selling on eBay since 2001, but I did buy a Stuben saddle on eBay a few months ago for £200 and the seller (a person local to me, so I collected the saddle in person) had her funds retained by PayPal until I'd left her positive feedback.

Definitely contact ebay. Don't delay. I had a situation with a seller who didn't send a gpa hat. When I rang the number the person who answered the phone said she didn't live there!!! Cutting a long story short it was the daughter, she had set up an account in her fathers name, and a paypal account to boot and not told him! He was livid. I reported her to ebay. My money was refunded as Dad took charge but I kept her name on file and she no longer has an account.
My oh may have moaned while I was on the phone making loads of calls but it got sorted and I got my money back. Good luck.
