A friend had a tragic accident with her horse at the weekend. They were hit by a 4x4 from behind :(:(

Cheryl has undergone one operation on her back, and it's expected she'll be bedridden for at least 4 months. Sunny, the horse, was put down at the scene.

I can't really think of anything else to say. Article was released in the newspaper this morning. Link below.

Rest in Peace Sunny. Get well soon Cheryl xxx

So very, very sad :(

I am getting more and more wary about roadwork now.

I really hope your friend has a good recovery.

Do they know how it happened? Was it on a bend or something and he just didnt see them?

I know that road like the back of my hand and it's a nightmare for riders. Wishing Cheryl a speedy recovery both physically and mentally, just tragic to lose your precious friend like this.xx

My heart goes out to your friend. it is such a hard thing to get through, I have been in her exact situation, if she needs to talk, tell her I am here please. xx

My deepest sympathies to your friend. This is such a tragedy and demonstrates how vulnerable horse riders are when riding on the road. We as horse riders need to cappaign for a national integrated network of off-road riding routes so that we can ride away from motor vehicles. Part of the road fund/tax licence should go towards this.
