Another fatality on the roads...

A friend had a tragic accident with her horse at the weekend. They were hit by a 4x4 from behind

Cheryl has undergone one operation on her back, and it's expected she'll be bedridden for at least 4 months. Sunny, the horse, was put down at the scene.

No idea, they were stood on the road, talking to some people. It's a slightly shaded area but it's not on a bend as far as I remember. Cheryl doesn't remember, probably for the best really!

My deepest sympathies to your friend. This is such a tragedy and demonstrates how vulnerable horse riders are when riding on the road. We as horse riders need to cappaign for a national integrated network of off-road riding routes so that we can ride away from motor vehicles. Part of the road fund/tax licence should go towards this.
