Just little old me again :) gosh u's must be getting bored of me sorry lol

Well basically following on from my other post of condition etc was thinking of adding the Bluegrass 14% Performance mix to my horses current diet for some fast release energy. We had him on cool mix as a 4yr but it sent him a bit buckaroo at times but we think this was down to youngness as we had him on it last yr as a 6yr and it didnt do anything! He is currently on the bluegrass cool n condition cubes and alfa a oil which does give him enough slow release energy but it takes literally 40mins to get this horse going forwards and using himself, he could also do with more energy for jumping. So was thinking that if i add the performance mix it might give him some fast release energy for the beginning of our schooling sessions! Anyone any suggestions? Has anyone used this mix? What does the 14% stand for also as it only gives DE info :/

What is Bluegrass 14% Performance mix? I know that we keep Cappy on low cereal feed because it sent him loopy, and when we spoke to a nutritionist she recommended the feed he is on now, which has less than 14% cereal, so could it mean that? If it was cereal that sent your horse loopy then could it be the lack of it that has calmed him down?

Sorry not to be more helpful, but was intrigued by the feed name.:)

Bluegrass is a brand lol i love there conditiong cubes, far better than spillers cc tbh, quality wise and condition wise! ...

Well the cool mix sent him crackers like 2yrs ago then we stopped using it, then put him back on it last april-ish and he didnt go mad, was as cool as a cucumber (i wanted more energy). He always lacks energy in the summer months so just need something to give him more energy until nov time.

We used to sell Bluegrass but we stopped it because it didn't sell very well TBH

The 14% relates to the protein content.

The Bluegrass rep gave me a bag of the 12% mix for free and i continued to feed it for approx 2 1/2 months (can't remember what it was called) and my boy did ok on it, nothing spectacular.

Dodson & Horrell's Competition Country Mix is a fantastic fast release mix IMO, worked for me.
