Sorry if these are getting tedious, please tell me and I will stop them.
Megan (Governor on here) very kindly took me to visit her yesterday! I can't believe the kindness that I have recieved over the last week, it has been astounding and so so lovely. I really do appreciate it all. Thankyou.
The vet told me yesterday that Gem had lost 9kgs in 3 days, and that although they had previously said she could come home early this week, she needs at least another 10 days on itravenous drugs and so she won't be home as early as they had said last time we visited.
Mum spoke to her again this evening and Gem has lost more weight. Gem was 430kg on Friday, she has now lost over 9kg, considering Gem should be 570-600kg...you can imagine how she looks.
Am still desperatley trying to stay positive with the whole situation. I know I have to, but it is taking a lot to stop myself bursting into floods of tears right now. I know it sounds pathetic, and I know people are going through a lot worse, and I know she is in the best place possible, and I know she will be fine eventually... I just can't believe the bad luck we have had. Sorry. I hope all of you and your horses are doing well.

First of all, it is great that she will be fine eventually.
You are not pathetic, it is horrible to see any animal suffer, least of all your own. I would be exactly the same as you.
Send some big hugs to Gem from me and take care of you tooxx It's really good to get your news from the updates.

your posts are not getting tedious so don't you dare stop posting! HHO is here for the good times as well as the bad ones. I for one have been looking for updates on how Gem has been getting on.
FWIW Pidge is 17hh and in a 7'3" rug and he is only 555kg on the weighttape and he doesn't look bad IMO

so if Gem has lost some weight don't worry that can be fixed when she's fit and with coming into the spring grass soon that will help too. remember there are lots on here who will help you

Fingers and toes crossed that she will make a speedy recovery and, don't stop the updates.

You know where I am if you need a chat.

Hi, really sorry to hear about Gem. If you don't mind me asking which vet at the RVC is treating her? PM me if you prefer. Fingers crossed she gets better soon.
xx

Sorry to hear Gem's not picking up as quickly as you hoped. You must be beside yourself - I'm sure all of us on here can imagine how you must be feeling. Don't feel bad about crying, it's totally understandable - she's your girl. I know it must be horrible for you to see her looking thin and ill, but she'll soon put the weight back on when she's better.

Keep as positive as you can. She's in the best possible place for the best possible outcome.

Will keep checking for updates, so don't stop posting them. I'm thinking of you both and have everything crossed.

Please, don't you dare stop your updates on Gem...Everything crossed here for her and give us more news until she's definitely over this and back home safe and sound with you .
Big hugs xxx

Dont stop the updates please, we would all worry what had happened.

Keep your chin up and think positively.... we must all realise how lucky we are when our horses are healthy and make the most of the time we have with them, to keep us strong in the bad times.

Vibes for Gem {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{vibes}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Please don't stop the updates!

She is your baby so of course you are feeling tearful! She is in the best possible place.

Fingers crossed for a complete recovery and you get to go on that funride one day.

Take care of yourself too.

Joya - I have been desparately awaiting this update and was a bit worried when you didn't post yesterday. Things may seem quite bad at the moment but keep positive, she sounds a tough little mare and I am sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Oh you're all just so lovely, thankyou so so much for all of your support. I just feel like it's always one thing after another with Gem, but I suppose it makes the good times even better

I don't post that much, but have been on the lookout for an update on Gem. Thinking of you both - hang in there!

Thanks for the update, I'm sure that when the drugs have fought the infection th eweight will all go back on, good thing that it is spring now and the grass will soon be growing.

The first thing I do when I come on HHO is look for your updates at the moment so please keep them coming. Its understandable you are feeling so down at the moment but please try and keep your chin up. sending loads of postive vibes to you and Gem.
