Another haynet question - can height help improve neck muscle?

I had a highly respected and massively experienced producer of top class horses and ponies, as well as being a panel judge, come and see my horses last week. She suggested that I feed one of mine from a haynet tied high to improve his neck muscle - previously he was fed his hay from the floor.

Does this actually work and if so how high is high?

I also thought it would be the under muscle?

And I definitely wouldn't want to develop that. Apart from anything else I would've thought it would make a horse look quite ewe necked?

To be honest I think your [ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] for some reason has got it all wrong, or you've misunderstood. Feeding from a high haynet will promote the build up of the wrong muscle. You definately need to feed from the floor.

It's very bad for their backs to eat from a high haynet. Personally I only ever feed from the floor because it's natural for them. The only exception being in the trailer or at a show.
