My quick rant first - horsemart won't let me narrow my search by selecting age! Very annoying since that is one of my main criteria.

Now that is over, what should I expect to pay for this -
14.2hh or over, ideally 15.2-16.2
3-5 years, ideally just backed (would consider a little older if just backed and good reason for backing late)
Not bothered by breed, but would prefer not to have a cob although they are not ruled out
Gelding preferred, but mare not ruled out
Don't want a world beater, but good conformation is a must
Don't want to travel too far to view, so in south east
To eventually do low level affiliated comps

I think I am being very open minded and thought it'd be easy to find something. What should I expect to pay roughly - I know it is hard to say as I am being quite vague with what I want. Won't say my budget just yet, want a few responses first.

There seems to be a lot more mares available at the right sort of money at the moment. There are several on horsequest that may suit, mainly mares up to £4000, there is a smart gelding on Nfed 15.3 4yrs £3950 .
I would expect to pay up to £4500 for a correct young horse with low level aff. potential.
If homebred they will have cost the best part of £4000 to produce.
