Another 'how much hay to feed' question....

Mine all live out 24/7 at the moment. They are in a field of about 5 acres with plenty of grass. I have 2 native type fillies which are on the fat side. They have 2 small feeds of happy hoof each day. And I have a 15.2hh warmblood which has 2 feeds of calm and condition and chaff each day. My warmblood however is on the slim side. How much hay should I be putting out? I don't want my natives blowing up weightwise but my Warmblood needs plenty....

If you have ample grass then your warmblood should be getting enough forage atm, and it will be difficult for you to make sure that the natives don't guzzle all the hay, unless you use muzzles. Tbh, I'd up the WB's hard feed instead... unless you can bring it in at all? How much calm and condition are you feeding?

Any chance you could partition the field so the warmblood spends a least part of the day in his own section with his own supply of hay?

I'd do as TGM says and split the paddock so that you can give the WB some haylage. If you have grass for the good doers to chew on, that's great, but it will have little nutritional value at this time of year.
